AUSTIN – Lotte Friis, still wondering whether she will be able to stay in the U.S.<\/a>, smashed the 1650 free tonight at the American Short Course Championships.<\/p>\n

While NBAC teammate Allison Schmitt has been getting most of the press this week in Austin, Friis has been getting her feet wet with\u00a0some fast-yard swims. Tonight, she shot to fifth all time in the women’s 1650-yard free with a stunning 15:30.84. \u00a0Notably, teammates Becca Mann (15:48.04) and Sierra Schmidt (15:57.89) finished second and third.<\/p>\n

NYAC’s Megan Romano kicked off the final night of action with a lifetime best in the women’s 200-yard back. \u00a0Romano blasted her way to a 1:51.72, well below her previous best of 1:53.41 from the 2014 Arena Pro Swim Series stop in Minneapolis last November.<\/p>\n
Longhorn’s Quinn Carrozza placed second in 1:55.53 with Nitro’s Regan Barney claiming third in 1:56.23.<\/p>\n
NBAC’s Austin Surhoff chased down the men’s 200-yard back with a time of 1:43.31, while Texas A&M’s Brock Bonetti earned second in 1:43.58. \u00a0Texas’ Ian Lemaistre placed third in 1:43.65.<\/p>\n
Canyons’ Abbey Weitzeil, the U.S. 17-18 National Age Group record holder with a 46.29, won the women’s 100-yard free tonight with a time of 47.05.<\/p>\n
NBAC’s Allison Schmitt, who has been on fire this weekend with several world-class times, dropped a personal best time of 47.77 for second. \u00a0That swim eclipsed her 47.95 from the 2013 SEC Championships while swimming for Georgia.<\/p>\n
Romano, shortly after cranking out a scorcher in the 200 back, took third in the 100 free with a time of 48.30.<\/p>\n
NBAC’s Frank Dyer took home the men’s 100-yard free in 43.12 with Nitro’s Tate Jackson placing second in 43.62. \u00a0SMU’s Christian Scherubl wound up third in 43.83.<\/p>\n
BlueFish’s Laura Sogar hit the wall in 2:09.53 to claim the women’s 200-yard breaststroke title. \u00a0Aquazot’s Catherine Lowengrub finished second in 2:13.35 with Golden West’s Nora Deleske clinching third in 2:15.35.<\/p>\n
Missouri’s Igor Kozlovski captured the men’s 200-yard breast in a time of 1:54.12 with NBAC’s Gabriel De Sousa (1:55.93) and Daniel Tranter (1:56.75) rounded out the top three.<\/p>\n
Aquazot’s Sonia Wang raced her way to a 1:56.08 to win the women’s 200-yard fly. \u00a0NBAC’s Becca Mann touched second in 1:56.97 with Longhorn’s Dakota Luther earning third in 1:57.08.<\/p>\n
Bobby Bollier won the men’s 200-yard fly in 1:42.25 with NBAC’s Tom Luchsinger placing second in 1:43.15. \u00a0SMU’s Tyler Rauth finished third in 1:44.59.<\/p>\n
Canyons’ Mik Ranslem (51.57), Abbey Weitzeil (46.56), Nikol Popov (49.46) and Tamara Santoyo (50.71) won the women’s 400-yard free relay in 3:18.30. Aquazot (3:24.64) and TPA (3:26.55) took second and third.<\/p>\n
NBAC’s Frank Dyer (43.27), Austin Surhoff (43.77), Tom Luchsinger (44.93) and Daniel Tranter (43.17) won the men’s 400-yard free relay in 2:55.14.<\/p>\n
Nitro’s Tate Jackson (43.74), Micah Slaton (45.90), Mason Tenney (45.93) and Corban Rawls (45.82) took second in 3:01.39, while Canyons’ Kevin Dai (45.29), Johnny Ellery (45.24), Tanner Olson (45.83) and Brandon Yong (45.64) finished third in 3:02.00.<\/p>\n
NBAC’s Nezir Karap won the men’s 1650-yard free in 14:55.31. \u00a0Texas’ Nic Munoz placed second in 15:04.88 with Texas’ Jake Ritter posting a third-place 15:08.96.<\/p>\n
