AUSTIN – Allison Schmitt posted a lifetime best to move to fifth\u00a0all time in the 500-yard free at the American Short Course Championships.<\/p>\n

Schmitt blasted her way to a lifetime best in the women’s 500-yard free as she clocked a 4:32.08. \u00a0That swim beat her previous best of 4:32.71 from the 2011 NCAA Championships, and shot her to fifth\u00a0all time in the event.<\/p>\n

NBAC’s Lotte Friis, who might be forced to go back to Denmark due to financial issues<\/a>, clocked a second-place time of 4:33.47 to move to 10th in the all time rankings.<\/p>\n

Becca Mann (4:34.77) and Sierra Schmidt (4:38.47) gave North Baltimore a top-four sweep.<\/p>\n

TPA’s Ariel Weech (23.00), Claire Maiocco (22.91), Grace Olivardia (23.65) and Caroline White (23.68) put up the top time in the women’s 200-yard free relay.<\/p>\n

Aquazot’s Eva Merrell (22.82), Katie Glavinovich (23.73), Sonia Wang (23.69) and Kate Krolikowski (23.90) finished second in 1:34.14.<\/p>\n

All eyes, however, were on the Canyons with Abbey Weitzeil as the leadoff. This morning, Weitzeil blitzed the 50 free prelims in 21.79<\/a>, just off her all-time fifth-ranked personal best of 21.49 from 2014 Winter Junior Nationals.<\/p>\n

Weitzeil blasted her leadoff tonight in 21.68, while Tamara Santoyo (23.54), Mik Ranslem (24.58) and Ally Schultz (24.46) closed out the relay with a 1:34.26 for third for Canyons.<\/p>\n

Weitzeil then won the 50-yard free this evening in 21.84, off her leadoff time. SwimAtlanta’s Amanda Weir took second in 22.01 with Aquazot’s Eva Merrell finishing third in 22.71.<\/p>\n

Texas A&M’s Luke Shaw (20.54), Cory Bolleter (19.26), Jacob Gonzales (19.75) and Turker Ayar (19.64) posted a 1:19.19 to win the men’s 200-yard free relay.<\/p>\n

Nitro’s Tate Jackson (19.91), Mason Tenney (20.59), Corban Rawls (20.84) and Chris Mayer (20.62) placed second in 1:21.96.<\/p>\n

Miami’s Zu Pigot (20.44), Julius Petzold (20.69), Rob Ballestas (21.47) and Diguan Pigot (20.40) snared third in 1:23.00.<\/p>\n

NBAC’s Frank Dyer won the men’s 500-yard free in a time of 4:14.00, while Club Seminole’s Zane Grothe took second in 4:15.65. \u00a0Bobby Bollier placed third in 4:19.81.<\/p>\n

Aquazot’s Sonia Wang turned in a 1:57.65 to win the women’s 200-yard IM. Teammate Daniela Georges took second in 1:59.79 with Brea’s Kenisha Liu placing third in 1:59.84.<\/p>\n

NBAC’s Austin Surhoff followed with a 1:43.06 to claim the men’s 200-yard IM crown. \u00a0Teammates Daniel Tranter (1:44.54) and Alpkan Ornek (1:47.12) placed second and third.<\/p>\n

Texas A&M’s Cory Bolleter won the men’s 50-yard free by a wide margin with a 19.36. \u00a0Kesier Witte took second in 20.08 with Canyons’ Cole Cogswell earning third in 20.18.<\/p>\n

Aquazot’s Eva Merrell (54.83), Catherine Lowengrub (1:03.07), Sonia Wang (54.02) and Daniela Georges (51.27) won the women’s 400-yard medley relay in 3:43.19.<\/p>\n

Canyons finished well behind with a second-place 3:46.38, while TPA claimed third in 3:46.63.<\/p>\n

SMU’s Samuel Straughan (46.70), Ziga Cerkovnik (54.23), Tyler Rauth (46.73) and Christian Scherubl (43.57) won the men’s 400-yard medley relay in 3:11.23.<\/p>\n

NBAC (3:13.21) and Aquazot (3:17.99) finished second and third.<\/p>\n
