IOWA CITY, Iowa, November 10. THE University of Iowa men and women's swimming and diving team returned to action Friday night, hosting the Truman State Bulldogs. The Iowa men defeated the Bulldogs 156-49, winning all 11 events. The Hawkeye women won 10 of 11 events for a 135-70 win. The men improve their record to 4-5 (1-2 Big Ten) and the women improve to 4-5 (0-3 Big Ten). <\/p>\n
Freshman Brian Farris stole the spotlight from his teammates in the final event of the night. The first two legs of the 400 relay team were dead even with Truman State, however, the Bulldogs started to pull away in the third leg. Farris was into the pool behind the final Bulldog Chris Hagan. Farris was able to catch, and pass Hagan to give the Hawkeyes the win by 24 hundredths of a second. Senior Seth Tweedy led the Hawkeye men with wins in the 100 (48.16) and 200 free (1:45.71), also swimming the first leg on the winning 400 free relay team. Sophomore Nick Divan added two more wins for the Hawkeyes in the 400 IM (4:07.98) and the 500 free (4:38.35). <\/p>\n
Senior Emmy Haeger led the Hawkeye women with wins in the 50 free (24.21) and the 100 breast (1:04.81). Sophomore Ashley Dell also added two wins for the Hawkeyes in the 500 (5:06.53) and the 1,000 free (10:22.52). <\/p>\n
