INDIANAPOLIS – The University of California-Los Angeles<\/strong> retains the title as the best team in the nation as the Bruins once again top Women’s National Top 20 rankings and highlight the Week 7\/March 4 Women’s Varsity Polls released today by the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA).<\/p>\n

The top teams in all four polls remain the same as Connecticut College<\/strong> (CWPA Division III Top Five), Whittier College<\/strong> (Division III Top 10) and Princeton University<\/strong> (CWPA Top 10) cling to their No. 1 spots for another week.<\/p>\n

Voted on by a panel of coaches from the CWPA, Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), Big West Conference, Golden Coast Conference, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the polls are compiled and released on Wednesday<\/span><\/span> during the season through the week following the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship.<\/p>\n

2015 Women’s Varsity National Top 20 (Week 7)
\n<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The Bruins of the University of California-Los Angeles<\/strong>, hangs onto the top spot in the Week 7\/March 4 Women’s Varsity National Top 20 Poll with a perfect 100 points to remain a unanimous top selection.<\/p>\n

Overall, 18 of the 20 positions in the poll remain unchanged as the only adjustment comes at No. 19 and 20 where Santa Clara University<\/strong> (11 points) and theUniversity of California-San Diego<\/strong> (8 points) exchange the final two slots in the rankings.<\/p>\n

Behind UCLA, Stanford University<\/strong> (95 points), the University of Southern California<\/strong> (90 points), the University of California<\/strong> (85 points), the University of California-Irvine<\/strong> (80 points), the University of Hawaii<\/strong> (75 points), Arizona State University<\/strong> (70 points), California State University-Northridge<\/strong> (65 points), San Jose State University<\/strong> (60 points) and the University of California-Davis<\/strong> (53 points) complete an All-West Coast Top 10 for the second week in a row.<\/p>\n

Princeton University<\/strong> (52 points) breaks up the spree of West Coast teams as the Tigers remain locked at No. 11.\u00a0 San Diego State University<\/strong> (44 points), Loyola Marymount University<\/strong> (40 points), University of the Pacific<\/strong> (36 points) and Long Beach State University<\/strong> (28 points) follow at No. 12-to-15, respectively, for another week.<\/p>\n

Indiana University<\/strong> (24 points) stays at No. 16, with Wagner College<\/strong> (16 points) and the University of California-Santa Barbara<\/strong> (16 points) deadlocked in a tie at No. 17.<\/p>\n

Santa Clara and UC-San Diego round out the Top 20.<\/p>\n

2015 Women’s Varsity Division III Top 10 (Week 7)

The Poets pick up 98 points this week to widen Whittier’s lead to seven points over runner-up Pomona-Pitzer Colleges<\/strong> (91 points). Last week the gap between the Poets and Sagehens was a mere two points.<\/p>\n

Chapman University<\/strong> (90 points) and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges<\/strong> (90 points), which exchanged the No. 3 and 4 spots in the rankings last week, are now tied in the bronze medal position as the duo share the No. 3 slot in the March 4 poll.<\/p>\n

California Lutheran University<\/strong> (77 points) maintains an All-California Top Five.<\/p>\n

The University of Redlands<\/strong> (71 points) stays at No. 6, while Occidental College<\/strong> (71 points) eclipses Connecticut College<\/strong> (67 points) to take over at No. 7. The University of La Verne<\/strong> (63 points) and Washington & Jefferson College<\/strong> (57 points) complete the Top 10.<\/p>\n

2015 Women’s CWPA Top 10 (Week 7)

Following the first predominantly league weekend among the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I\/II institutions, the top team remains unchanged as Princeton University<\/strong> retains a firm grip on the top spot in the Week 7\/March 4 CWPA Top 10 Poll.<\/p>\n

A ranking of the league’s entire varsity membership (Division I\/II\/III), the poll’s No. 1 position has been traded between the Tigers (99 points) and Hoosiers of Indiana University<\/strong>(96 points) for most of the season with Indiana holding the spot four times (Preseason, Week 1, Week 4, Week 5) and Princeton now claiming the berth four times (Week 2, Week 3, Week 6, Week 7).\u00a0 Neither team has been able to wear the crown as the league’s best for three consecutive weeks, a factual note which Princeton will hope to eliminate when the Week 8 results come out on March 11<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n

The University of Michigan<\/strong> (88 points) stays at No. 3, while Brown University<\/strong> (85 points) and Harvard University<\/strong> (82 points) move past Hartwick College<\/strong> (73 points) as the Bears, Crimson and Hawks now rate at No. 4-to-6, respectively.<\/p>\n

Bucknell University<\/strong> (68 points) holds down the No. 7 berth for another week.\u00a0 Mercyhurst University<\/strong> (62 points), which stood at No. 10 last week, uses the strength of a 15-14 OT win againstGeorge Washington University<\/strong> (62 points) over the weekend at Bucknell, to move into a tie with the Colonials for the No. 8 position.<\/p>\n

Connecticut College<\/strong> (60 points) completes the Top 10.<\/p>\n

Connecticut College<\/strong>, which claimed the 2013 and 2014 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Championships, maintains the No. 1 position in the Week 7\/March 4 CWPA Division III Top Five Poll.<\/p>\n

For the second week in a row, however, the Camels (97 points) are not a unanimous top choice as 2014 CWPA Division III Championship runner-up Washington & Jefferson College<\/strong> (96 points) stays within a point of tying Connecticut for the top spot with CWPA Division III league play at Monmouth College<\/strong> and a clash between the two programs coming up in a week.<\/p>\n

Carthage College<\/strong> (91 points), Macalester College<\/strong> (68 points) and 2010, 2011 and 2012 CWPA Division III Champion Grove City College<\/strong> (66 points) round out the Top Five.<\/p>\n

Utica College<\/strong> (32 points) also received votes.<\/p>\n
