COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, November 10. THE Air Force men's swimming & diving team defeated TCU in impressive fashion, 142.50-91.50, in a Mountain West Conference dual Thursday night at the Cadet Natatorium. The AFA women split its double-dual with TCU and New Mexico State.<\/p>\n
The Falcon women lost to TCU, 63-50, while defeating NMSU 68-45. TCU swept the women's competition, downing the Aggies 75-38. The men's team is now 10-1 in duals this season, 1-0 in MWC action. The women's team is now 4-4 and 0-1 in conference duals.<\/p>\n
The Air Force men's team dominated right out the gate, winning the first eight events and taking 9-of-13 events. Seniors Chris Knaute and Paul Parmenter and junior T.J. Cowling combined to win six events to lead the way for the Falcons.<\/p>\n
The win was a huge one for the Falcons, after narrowly defeating TCU, 121-120, last year.<\/p>\n
"We showed up ready to swim," men's head coach Rob Clayton said. "Our guys were completely dominant right from the beginning. We narrowly beat them in Fort Worth last year, but we made sure that didn't happen this time."<\/p>\n
Air Force opened the meet by winning the 400 medley relay. Parmenter, Andrew Bergman, Matt Sievers and Nick Burton combined to swim a time of 3:26.15. Knaute then won the 1000 free (9:35.68) and the 200 free (1:41.30), back-to-back, to put the Falcons comfortably ahead for good.<\/p>\n
Cowling was dominant for the Falcons in the sprint-free events, taking the 50 (21.33) and the 100 (47.05). Parmenter led the way in the medley and fly events, winning the 200 IM (1:55.42) and the 200 Fly (1:56.10).<\/p>\n
Seniors Brady Lindberg and Bergman also won events for the Falcons. Lindberg won the men's one-meter diving with 282.80 points and Bergman won the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:10.16.<\/p>\n
On the women's side, the Falcons were led by senior Lauren White who dominated the mid- and distance-free events. White won the 200 (1:57.68), 500 (5:14.77) and 1000 free (10:40.95) events. Sophomore Jane Hwang also won an event for AFA, winning the 100 free with a time of 53.91.<\/p>\n
Senior Lauren Bursey and junior Danielle Dowds led way for the Falcon divers. Bursey placed second in the one-meter diving with 239.80 points and Dowds took second in the three-meter diving with 241.70 points.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
