COLLEGE STATION – Palo Alto Stanford’s Bobby Bollier scored double victories in the men’s 200 free and 100 fly, his second and third individual wins of the meet, to highlight the third night of racing at the College Station Sectionals meet at Texas A&M’s Student Recreation Center Natatorium.<\/p>\n
After finishing second in the 100 free last night, SMU’s Nina Rangelova upgraded to first in the women’s 200 free tonight, stopping the clock at 2:00.81. Palo Alto Stanford’s Jennifer Campbell finished a distant second in 2:03.00, while Haley Yelle completed the podium with a 2:03.93. Palo Alto Stanford’s Bobby Bollier picked up his second individual win of the meet in the men’s 200 free, just out-touching SMU’s Christian Scherubl at the finish, 1:51.68 to 1:51.88. Alex Liang gave Palo Alto Stanford a 1-3 finish with his 1:54.54.<\/p>\n
Texas A&M’s Ashley McGregor raced to a win in the women’s 200 breast, beating teammate Franko Jonker by a little over six tenths with a 2:31.01. Jonker touched second in 2:31.69, followed by Palo Alto Stanford’s Grace Zhao in 2:33.62. Streamline Aquatics’ Thiago Parravicini topped the men’s 200 breast championship final with a 2:17.80, a hair ahead of Palo Alto Stanford’s Brandon Fischer (2:18.04). Benjamin Walker of Pack Swimming rounded out the top three in 2:20.18.<\/p>\n
The Texas A&M women made it two wins in a row as Sarah Gibson got to the wall first in the women’s 100 fly. Gibson posted a 1:00.96 for the win, just ahead of Longhorn Aquatics teammates Victoria Edwards (1:01.07) and Dakota Luther (1:01.45). Bobby Bollier of Palo Alto Stanford won his second event of the night and third of the meet in the men’s race, posting a 53.99 to wrap up the win. Brock Bonetti of Texas A&M (55.64) and Bryce Mefford of Sierra Marlins (55.90) rounded out the top three.<\/p>\n
Texas A&M’s Sarah Henry put on a clinic in the women’s 400 IM, demolishing the field by nearly 13 seconds with a 4:42.78 in finals. Jordan Anderson of the Sierra Marlins just out-touched Destiny Nelson of Texas Ford Aquatics for second, 4:55.65 to 4:55.86. After finishing in the top three a couple of times already, Palo Alto Stanford’s Alex Liang finally found his way to the top step of the podium with a 4:27.38 in the men’s 400 IM. Teammate Joseph Molinari made him work for it, as he touched less than three tenths behind in 4:27.66. Peak Swimming’s XiangFei Xie rounded out the top three finishers in 4:32.90.<\/p>\n
In the women’s 400 medley relay, the Palo Alto Stanford foursome of Chloe Kennedy Isleta, Grace Zhao, Jennifer Campbell and Isabelle Henig topped the championship heat in 4:15.70. Cypress Fairbanks’ Taylor Wohrley, Victoria Roubique, Claire Smith and Kelsey Evans came in second in 4:18.36, followed by Longhorn Aquatics’ Victoria Edwards, Kathleen Rousset, Dakota Luther and Catriona MacGregor in 4:21.18.<\/p>\n
Palo Alto Stanford swept the relays for the second straight night with a 3:49.02 in the men’s medley, thanks to Benjamin Ho, Joe Kmak, Joseph Molinari and Albert Gwo. Streamline Aquatics’ Andrii Nikishenko, Thiago Parravicini, Daniel Torres and Wilfred Morris touched second in 3:54.20, followed by the Palo Alto Stanford B team of Andrew Cho, Jeremy Babinet, Daichi Matsuda and Corey Gutierrez (3:55.18).<\/p>\n
Palo Alto Stanford extended its lead in the team standings and now has 894 points. Cypress Fairbanks (445 points) and Sierra Marlins (350 points) are in second and third.<\/p>\n
