SAN ANTONIO –\u00a0Going into the final day of the WAC championships, Northern Arizona leads the women\u2019s rankings and the UNLV leads the men.<\/p>\n

Last year\u2019s WAC Freshman of the Year, Hannah Kastigar of Grand Canyon, opened tonight\u2019s finals defending her 400 IM title earning herself an NCAA \u201cB\u201d cut (4:12.42).<\/p>\n

Teammate Iegor Lytvenok kept the pace, swimming to a new pool record, WAC record and NCAA \u201cB\u201d qualifying time of 3:43.52.<\/p>\n

Freshman Alina Staffeldt from Northern Arizona won the 100 butterfly (53.86) followed by UNLV\u2019s Dillon Virva in a time of 47.06.<\/p>\n

Dropping two seconds from last year’s time and moving up from a fifth place overall finish, Bakersfield\u2019s Kelsey Lange won the women\u2019s 200 free in 1:48.48.<\/p>\n

On the men\u2019s side, senior Adam Kalms became the two-time defending champion in the men\u2019s 200 free with a time of 1:34.39 which also qualifies as an NCAA \u201cB\u201d cut.<\/p>\n

In the women\u2019s breaststroke New Mexico State\u2019s senior Jessica Legge won her third consecutive 100 breaststroke title with a 1:01.74. In the men\u2019s event, breaking a WAC record with a time of 53.11, from Air Force, Michael Barnosky.<\/p>\n

Grand Canyon\u2019s sophomore Iryna Glavnyk won the women\u2019s 100 backstroke with an NCAA \u201cB\u201d time of 53.63 followed by UNLV\u2019s Henrique Machado (47.08) who also won the event last year.<\/p>\n

Women\u2019s 1 meter diving champion Savanna Meadows claimed her second WAC title winning the women\u2019s platform with a score of 222.80.<\/p>\n

To conclude day three, the Grand Canyon women and the UNLV men won the 400 medley relays.<\/p>\n
