COLLEGE STATION – Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics teammates Karlee Bispo and Bobby Bollier each picked up an individual win, while Palo Alto Stanford took over the lead in the team standings during the second night of finals at the College Station Sectionals meet at Texas A&M University’s Student Recreation Center Natatorium.<\/p>\n
Night two of finals kicked off with the women’s 200 back, where Texas Ford Aquatics’ Destiny Nelson topped the championship heat in 2:15.39, comfortably ahead of Eagle Swim Association’s Alexandra Lupton (2:17.18) and Longhorn Aquatics’ Victoria Edwards (2:17.93). Meanwhile, Cypress Fairbanks’ Braxton Flowers got to the wall first in the men’s race, pacing the field with a 2:01.12. Austin Swim Club’s Joshua Artmann followed in second at 2:02.07, just ahead of Sierra Marlin’s Bryce Mefford (2:02.72).<\/p>\n
A pair of veterans sat atop the final standings in the women’s 100 free final, as Palo Alto Stanford’s Karlee Bispo swam the fastest time of the night at 56.27, only .03 in front of SMU’s Nina Rangelova (56.30). Isabelle Henig, also from Palo Alto Stanford, claimed third place honors in 57.10. Crawfish Aquatics’ Colin Bone earned a victory in the men’s 100 free final, stopping the clock at 51.02 to edge Eagle Swim Association’s Steven Richardson, who came in at 51.45. XiangFei Xie of Peak Swimming came in third with a 52.13.<\/p>\n
Longhorn Aquatics grabbed the top two spots in the women’s 200 fly final, thanks to winner Dakota Luther (2:13.88) and runner-up Victoria Edwards (2:14.53). They finished well out in front of the rest of the field, with Texas A&M’s Nancy Schuchhardt touching third at 2:19.87. Palo Alto Stanford’s Bobby Bollier threw down an impressive time in the men’s 200 fly, stopping the clock at 1:57.15 for the win. Teammates Alex Liang (2:05.86) and Daichi Matsuda (2:06.29) rounded out the top three.<\/p>\n
Texas Ford Aquatics earned its second individual win of the night in the women’s 400 free as Gabrielle Kopenski dominated the championship heat with a 4:14.47. No one finished within six seconds of her, as Magnolia Aquatic Club’s Haley Yelle touched second in 4:20.81. Palo Alto Stanford’s Jennifer Campbell posted a 4:22.28 to claim third. The men’s 500 free title went to Texas A&M’s Gonzalo Carazo Barbero, who posted a 4:00.56 in his home pool. Bobby Bollier of Palo Alto Stanford earned another top three finish with a 4:04.51 for second, while teammate Alex Liang joined him on the podium in 4:05.31.<\/p>\n
Palo Alto Stanford’s foursome of Isabelle Henig, Chloe Kennedy Isleta, Grace Zhao and Jennifer Campbell posted a 3:52.77 to win the women’s 400 free relay ahead of Cypress Fairbanks’ Bronwyn Tuff, Taylor Wohrley, Kelsey Evans and Claire Smith (3:58.12). Summer Spradley, Jordan Anderson, Whitney Jorgensen and Dasha Pastushenko gave the Sierra Marlins a third place showing with their 3:58.56.<\/p>\n
Benjamin Ho, Joseph Molinari, Corey Gutierrez and Albert Gwo gave Palo Alto Stanford a sweep of the relays with their 3:29.89 in the men’s final. Sierra Marlins’ Matthew Klotz, Bryce Mefford, Ethan Dillard and Liam O’Haimhirgin rounded out the top three in 3:31.57.<\/p>\n
Palo Alto Stanford leads the team standings after day two with 494 points, while Cypress Fairbanks (322 points) and Sierra Marlins (226 points) are second and third.<\/p>\n
