ATLANTA – NC State had a strong night of scoring, taking a night three lead of more than 120 points, at the ACC Men’s Championships.<\/p>\n
Virginia Tech’s Robert Owen clipped NC State’s Christian McCurdy in the men’s 400-yard IM to open the evening. \u00a0Owen won the finale with a 3:41.79 to 3:41.92 effort as both swimmers cleared the NCAA A cut.<\/p>\n
Louisville’s Nolan Tesone finished third overall in 3:43.61, a time that is two seconds faster than what it took to get into the NCAA Championships last year.<\/p>\n
Louisville’s Pedro Coutinho hit the wall in 45.92 to win the men’s 100-yard fly. \u00a0That swim just missed the NCAA A cut of 45.61, and came about half-a-second shy of Masayuki Kishida’s 2008 pool record of 45.20.<\/p>\n
Florida State’s Connor Knight claimed second overall in 46.02 with North Carolina’s Sam Lewis rounding out the top three in 46.14.<\/p>\n
N.C. State fired off a big salvo in the men’s 200-yard free with a huge 1-2-3 finish. \u00a0Simonas Bilis won in an NCAA A cut time of 1:33.62, while teammates Ryan Held (1:34.15) and David Williams (1:34.18) finished second and third. The event pushed the Wolfpack’s team scoring lead to more than 120 points.<\/p>\n
