{"id":124729,"date":"2015-02-27T10:27:23","date_gmt":"2015-02-27T17:27:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=124729"},"modified":"2015-02-27T10:31:57","modified_gmt":"2015-02-27T17:31:57","slug":"ivy-league","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ivy-league\/","title":{"rendered":"Princeton Holds Firm on Points Advantage After Prelims at Ivy League"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PRINCETON &#8211; Princeton, <a title=\"Princeton Rolls to Huge Day 2 Lead at Ivy Leagues\" href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/princeton-rolls-to-huge-day-2-lead-at-ivy-leagues\/\" target=\"_blank\">which put up a big team points advantage last night<\/a>, did nothing to change that this morning at the Ivy League Championships with 18 point scorers tonight. \u00a0Columbia had a big day with 18 point scorers as well.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Up\/Downs for Feb. 27<\/strong><\/p>\n[table \u201c\u201d not found \/]<br \/>\n\n<p><strong>400 IM<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Princeton, already owning a huge point advantage from night two, continued piling on the points with a 1-2 effort this morning in the 400 IM.<\/p>\n<p>Samuel Smiddy (3:45.85) and Corey Okubo (3:45.88) went a closely-contested 1-2, as both crushed the pool record of 3:47.33 set by teammate Teo D&#8217;Alessandro in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>The conference record of 3:44.39 set by Dartmouth&#8217;s Nejc Zupan is likely to be rewritten this evening.<\/p>\n<p><em>Up\/Downs (Ivy League is scoring through the top 24. The # of A, B, C finalists are listed below):<\/em><\/p>\n[table \u201c\u201d not found \/]<br \/>\n\n<p><strong>100 fly<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Columbia&#8217;s David Jakl topped qualifying with a 46.27 this morning, dropping more than a second from his seed time. \u00a0Harvard&#8217;s Max Yakubovich touched second with a 47.13, while Princeton&#8217;s Zach Buerger claimed third in 47.38.<\/p>\n<p><em>Up\/Downs (Ivy League is scoring through the top 24. The # of A, B, C finalists are listed below):<\/em><\/p>\n[table \u201c\u201d not found \/]<br \/>\n\n<p><strong>200 free<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Princeton&#8217;s Teo D&#8217;Alessandro turned in the top time of the morning with a 1:35.53, while Penn&#8217;s Eric Schultz touched second in 1:35.67. \u00a0Yale&#8217;s Rob Harder rounded out the top three qualifiers in 1:36.03.<\/p>\n<p><em>Up\/Downs (Ivy League is scoring through the top 24. The # of A, B, C finalists are listed below):<\/em><\/p>\n[table \u201c\u201d not found \/]<br \/>\n\n<p><strong>100 breast<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Cornell freshman Alex Evdokimov put up the top time this morning with a 53.44.<\/p>\n<p>Princeton&#8217;s Jack Pohlmann touched second in 53.59 with Penn&#8217;s Cole Hurwitz placing third in 53.69.<\/p>\n<p><em>Up\/Downs (Ivy League is scoring through the top 24. The # of A, B, C finalists are listed below):<\/em><\/p>\n[table \u201c\u201d not found \/]<br \/>\n\n<p><strong>100 back<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Princeton&#8217;s Michael Strand hit the wall in 46.70 to top qualifying in the event. \u00a0That&#8217;s not far off Alex Righi&#8217;s conference and pool record of 46.32 from 2009.<\/p>\n<p>Columbia&#8217;s David Jakl set up a double tonight with a 47.21 for second, while Cornell&#8217;s Dylan Sali placed third in 47.24.<\/p>\n<p><em>Up\/Downs (Ivy League is scoring through the top 24.
