FEDERAL WAY – California’s Cierra Runge wasted little time to continue her epic meet as she took down the NCAA record in the 500-yard free at the Pac 12 Women’s Championships.<\/p>\n

During the first night, Runge was part of a new American record in the 800-yard free relay alongside teammate Missy Franklin<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Tonight, she took down the NCAA record in the 500 free with a blazing time of 4:31.90.<\/p>\n

That performance surpassed Brittany MacLean’s NCAA record of 4:32.53 set last year for Georgia and made Runge the fourth-fastest swimmer all time in the event.<\/p>\n

USC’s Chelsea Chenault took second tonight in a distant 4:37.55 with Arizona’s Bonnie Brandon placing third in 4:38.87.<\/p>\n
