NEW BRITAIN, Connecticut, November 4. JUNIORS Rachel Brookman, Kristen Jurzynski and Lindsey Snyder each broke Jack Suydam Natatorium records to lead Central Connecticut to a 152-147 win over UMass in dual meet action. The trio combined for seven wins, while Snyder and Brookman helped lead the Blue Devils to victory in the 200 medley relay. With the win, Central improves to 9-1 in dual meets on the season. The team will be back in the pool on Saturday, Nov. 11, hosting New Hampshire at 1 p.m. <\/p>\n
Snyder, who won three events, broke her own pool mark in the 200 back, finishing in 2:03.40. The time eclipsed her previous record by .03 seconds. The Winterport, Maine native also won the 100 back (58.21) and 200 IM (2:10.29), edging Brookman by .37 seconds in the latter. Jurzynski also finished second behind Snyder in 200 back. <\/p>\n
Brookman and Jurzynski each added two wins in the meet. Brookman earned her U.S. Open cut while also breaking her own pool record in the 200 fly with a 2:05.24 time. She was also victorious in the 100 fly (58.20), winning by over two seconds. Jurzynski, meanwhile, won the 500 free in pool record time and posted a 1:55.49 victory in the 200 free. Her 5:04.55 time in the 500 free topped her own record swim of 5:05.68. <\/p>\n
Snyder and Brookman teamed with senior Gail Bonaldi and sophomore Erin Crowley to win the 200 medley relay with a 1:51.30 time in the meet's opening event. Junior Jess Adams helped Central go back-to-back to open the competition, winning the 1,000 free by just under 10 seconds with a 10:48.27 mark. <\/p>\n
Crowley, who finished second in the 100 free (55.16), won the 50 free (25.24) by .05 seconds. <\/p>\n
