DALLAS, Texas, November 3. THE No. 20 men's swimming and diving team fell to BYU tonight, 133-108. Ian Clark and Alex Hetland both notched two first-place finishes for the Mustangs. <\/p>\n
The night began with the 200 medley relay where the Mustang relay of Pontus Renholm, Hetland, Brett Denham and Luka Vrtovec finished second with a time of 1:31.59 while Colton Ingraham, Mitchell Johnson, Josh Cohen and Jerr Merritt touched the wall for third place with a time of 1:36.61. In the 100 Free, Michael Dmitriev touched the wall at 9:33.62 for second place, Nate Clark finished fourth with a time of 9:48.33 and Chris Ginder clocked in for 9:49.99 and fifth-place. <\/p>\n
Shane Milu took second in the 200 free with a time of 1:41.49 while Maverick Smalley followed in third with a time of 1:41.60 and Travis Callaghan placed fifth with a time of 1:48.29. Vrtovec clocked in at 20.63 for second-place in the 50 free while Jani Brackett placed fourth with a time of 22.01 and Merritt placed fifth with a time of 22.16. <\/p>\n
Clark notched first place for the Mustangs in the 200 IM with a time of 1:53.67 while Justin Smith followed in second with a time of 1:54.10. Renholm touched the wall for a time of 1:56.39 and a fourth-place finish. <\/p>\n
There were four divers in the meet tonight and three of them were from BYU. SMU's Preston Holcombe notched a score of 268.20 for third place in the one-meter diving event. Later in the evening, Holcombe finished second in the three-meter with a score of 312.45. <\/p>\n
In the 100 fly, Hetland took first-place with a career-best time of 49.01. Smith finished third, clocking in at 50.68 while Denham notched fifth-place and a time of 51.09. Vrtovec was just out-touched in the 100 free with a time of 45.14 and second place. Milu finished in third-place for a time of 46.48 while Travis Callaghan took sixth-place with a time of 49.09. <\/p>\n
I. Clark took another first-place finish in the 100 back with a time of 50.20 while Renholm clocked in second with a time of 51.29. Ingraham came in sixth with a time of 54.13. In the 500 free, Smalley took a second-place finish with a time of 4:35.40 and Dmitriev notched fifth-place with a time of 4:43.98. N. Clark touched the wall for sixth-place and a time of 4:47.21. In the 100 breast, Hetland took his second first-place finish of the evening with a time of 54.68. I. Clark touched the wall for a time of 58.16 in second-place while Johnson placed third with a time of 58.60. Grega Plevelj, Patrick Raschle and Matt Hock all swam for times as Plevelj clocked in at 59.17, Raschle at 1:01.04 and Hock at 1:06.67. <\/p>\n
