AUCKLAND, New Zealand, October 31. SWIMMING New Zealand has signed coaches Jan Cameron and Thomas Ansorg to long-term contracts in an attempt to generate top-flight results at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and the 2012 Olympics in London. The coaches will oversee the nation's High Performance Center, located at the Millennium Institute of Sport and Health in Auckland.<\/p>\n
While Cameron has been handed the title of High Performance Coaching Director, Ansorg has been designated as High Performance Coach. They will be charged with enhancing the positive results turned in by New Zealand at the Commonwealth Games, World Short Course Championships and World Youth Championships. In other adjustments at Swimming New Zealand, Clive Rushton will be in command of High Performance Programs and will be asked to develop strategic plans and coaching initiatives. <\/p>\n
"SNZ sees the change of role as a natural extension to the High Performance Center concept," said Rushton. "It will allow Jan's talents to be applied across the country and allow Thomas to focus exclusively on international success. Through to Beijing Jan will continue her day-to-day coaching role with the Millennium Institute-based national team swimmers but will also be responsible for the performance of athletes and coaches with national team swimmers throughout the country."<\/p>\n
After the Beijing Olympics, Cameron is expected to transition into a role that will have Cameron aid in the development of programs throughout New Zealand. The focus is developing a group of athletes capable of making noise at the London Games.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
