UTAH swept its debut in the SwimmingWorldMagazine.com Meet of the Week with 197-101 (women) and 196-101 (men) victories over UC San Diego.<\/p>\n<p>On the women&#39;s side, Ali McInturff and Amber Walter paced the Utes with a trio of titles, while Andrew Cole, Michel DeCarolis and David Maasberg picked up three crowns each for the men.<\/p>\n<p>In the women&#39;s 200 medley relay, the Utes jumped out to an early 13-4 lead with a 1-3 finish.  The Utah quartet of Shannon McQueen, Walter, Jen Fredsall and McInturff placed first in 1:48.14, while the UCSD foursome of Susan Bell, Jenna Muenter, Heather Szmidt and Emily Harlan finished second in 1:48.61.  Utah&#39;s B-team of Beth Gunderson, Adrienne Coburn, Michelle Blair and Annie Van Leeuwen grabbed third in 1:50.86.<\/p>\n<p>The Utah men took an 11-6 lead in the 200 medley relay as David Johnson, DeCarolis, Seamus Alger and Maasberg touched first in 1:35.83.  Meanwhile, UCSD nabbed second and third with the contingent of Devin Ancona, Jake Dong, Jesse Marin and Tim Fuller placed second in 1:35.85 and the squad of Steven Hardy, Andy Islip, Kelvin Le and Dan Perdew finished in 1:36.32 for third.<\/p>\n<p>In the women&#39;s 1000 free, the Utah women pushed out to a 28-8 advantage with a top-two sweep.  Rachel Curci obliterated the field with a 9:57.75, while Karly Roberts took second in 10:19.99.  UCSD&#39;s Andrea Lippin rounded out the top three in 10:35.61.<\/p>\n<p>The Ute men stretched their lead to 24-11 in the distance free with a top-two sweep of their own.  Adam Oliver placed first in 9:37.50, while Marco Ferraro grabbed second in 9:47.73.  UCSD&#39;s Dan Gremban closed out the top three in 10:40.42.<\/p>\n<p>In the women&#39;s 200 free, the Utes kept cruising to snare a 43-12 lead.  McInturff captured the event title in 1:53.54, while Van Leeuwen took second in 1:54.85.  For UCSD, Shannon Simonds placed third in 1:56.47.<\/p>\n<p>The Utah men extended their lead to 39-15 with another top-two sweep when Jeremy Clark won the 200 free in 1:42.51 and Alger placed second in 1:43.92.  UCSD&#39;s Fuller finished third in 1:44.20.<\/p>\n<p>In the women&#39;s 100 back, Utah did not let up with a top-three sweep.  McQueen claimed the crown in 59.14, while Beth Gunderson placed second in 1:00.12 and Marissa Martin took third in 1:00.21.  At the end of the race, Utah held a 59-15 advantage.<\/p>\n<p>Utah grabbed a 52-21 lead after the 100 back.  Cole snagged the title in 52.06, while UCSD picked up its first individual runner-up effort when Ancona touched second in 53.48.  The Utes Johnson rounded out the top three in 53.53.<\/p>\n<p>In the women&#39;s 100 breast, Utah poured it on some more with a top-three sweep to the tune of a 72-18 lead.  Walter won the race in 1:05.41, while Coburn placed second in 1:07.50 and Caitlin Tidwell took third in 1:09.32.<\/p>\n<p>The Utah men posted a 40-point lead with a 66-26 score at the end of the 100 breast.  DeCarolis stopped the clock first in 58.97, while Spencer Peterson placed second in 1:00.23.  UCSD&#39;s Islip rounded out the top three in 1:00.85.<\/p>\n<p>In the women&#39;s 200 fly, Utah rolled out to an 87-25 advantage.  Blair won the race in 2:06.76, while UCSD&#39;s Karla Holman took second in 2:06.86.  Utah&#39;s McIntyre closed out the top three in 2:08.80.<\/p>\n<p>Utah&#39;s men extended their lead to 78-33 after the 200 fly.  Andrew Brown picked up top billing in 1:54.80, while UCSD&#39;s Le placed second in 1:54.87.  Meanwhile, Le&#39;s teammate Marin took third in 1:55.98.<\/p>\n<p>In the women&#39;s 50 free, Utah nearly eclipsed the 100-point plateau with a 99-32 advantage.  Walter touched first in 23.62, while UCSD&#39;s Harlan finished second in 24.35.  Utah&#39;s Van Leeuwen closed out the top three in 24.75.<\/p>\n<p>In the men&#39;s sprint free, Utah finished with a 90-40 lead.  Maasberg hit the wall first in 21.19, while Fuller placed second for UCSD in 21.46.  Utah&#39;s Tim Bailey placed third in 21.70.<\/p>\n<p>In the first diving break, the Utah women grabbed a 112-38 lead with a top-two sweep.  Kelsey Patterson won the one-meter with a 266.05, while Anna Braszkiewicz finished second with a 227.50.  UCSD&#39;s Jennifer Lappe took third with a 210.75.<\/p>\n<p>In the men&#39;s one-meter competition, Utah pushed out to a 102-47 advantage when Andy Jones claimed the title with a 269.10 tally.  UCSD&#39;s Andrew Skewes picked up second with 249.55 points, while Utah&#39;s Damian Brown finished third with a 240.50.<\/p>\n<p>UCSD finally stopped the bleeding in the 100 free with a top-two sweep of its own.  Harlan won the race in 53.69, while her teammate Simonds placed second in 53.90.  Utah&#39;s Fredsall closed out the top three in 54.71.  At the end of the event, Utah held a 116-53 lead.<\/p>\n<p>In the men&#39;s 100 free, Utah took a 116-52 advantage when Maasberg touched out UCSD&#39;s Fuller, 46.90-46.97.  Meanwhile, Utah&#39;s George Evans finished third in 48.06.<\/p>\n<p>The Utah women countered in the 200 back when Gunderson won in 2:07.76.  Her teammate Martin grabbed second in 2:07.95, while UCSD&#39;s Aubrey Panis rounded out the top three in 2:10.65.  After the event, the Utes held a 130-58 lead.<\/p>\n<p>In the men&#39;s 200 back, Utah recorded another top-three sweep.  Cole touched first in 1:53.02, while Johnson finished second in 1:54.28 and Oliver placed third in 1:56.88.<\/p>\n<p>In the women&#39;s 200 breast, Utah vaulted out to a 140-67 advantage.  Coburn picked up another title in 2:23.86, while UCSD&#39;s Kendall Bohn placed second in 2:25.71.  Her teammate Cari Cunningham closed out the top three in 2:31.27.<\/p>\n<p>The Utah men dominated the 200 breast with a 1-2-3 finish when DeCarolis captured first in 2:08.31.  His teammates Peterson took second in 2:11.23, while John Baque finished third in 2:12.29.  At the completion of the event, the Utes led 148-58.<\/p>\n<p>In the women&#39;s 500 free, Utah registered another top-three sweep when Curci stopped the clock first in 5:03.80.  McQueen touched just behind in 5:04.04, while Roberts took third in 5:05.61.  The Utes owned a 156-70 advantage after the race.<\/p>\n<p>In the men&#39;s middle distance free, Utah went 1-2 when Ferraro claimed the title in 4:42.30, while Clark placed second in 4:42.32.  UCSD&#39;s Artur Kubalski posted a third-place effort of 4:53.10 as the Utes grabbed a 161-64 lead.<\/p>\n<p>In the women&#39;s 100 fly, Utah&#39;s McInturff took first in 57.03, while UCSD&#39;s Szmidt finished second in 59.07.  Utah&#39;s Blair placed third in 59.22 as Utah finished the event with a 169-76 lead.<\/p>\n<p>UCSD broke into the win column on the men&#39;s side when Le hit the wall first in the 100 fly with a time of 51.38.  Utah&#39;s Alger took second in 52.29, while UCSD&#39;s Marin placed third in 52.48.  The Utes held a 168-76 advantage after the event.<\/p>\n<p>In the second diving break, Utah posted another 1-2 finish in the women&#39;s three-meter competition.  Patterson swept the diving titles with a 298.45, while Braszkiewicz finished second with a 273.80.  UCSD&#39;s Lappe rounded out the podium with a 201.30.  With the final diving performance accounted, Utah owned a 182-82 lead.<\/p>\n<p>In the men&#39;s three-meter, Utah ran its advantage to 181-82 when Jones also swept the diving events with a 265.75.  His teammate Brown took second with a 264.20, while UCSD&#39;s Daniel Gordh placed third with a 246.60.<\/p>\n<p>In the women&#39;s 200 IM, Utah pushed its lead to 197-86.  Coburn grabbed the title in 2:09.46, while Gunderson finished second in 2:10.11.  UCSD&#39;s Bell closed out the top three in 2:10.27.<\/p>\n<p>Utah stretched its lead to 196-86 after the men&#39;s 200 IM when Cole touched first in 1:58.61.  His teammate Nick Philpot picked up second in 1:59.68, while UCSD&#39;s Hardy took third in 1:59.99.<\/p>\n<p>In the women&#39;s 400 free relay, Utah&#39;s team of McInturff, Fredsall, Van Leeuwen and Walter may have touched first in 3:32.17, but UCSD pocketed the first-place points due to exhibitioning when Panis, Simonds, Bell and Harlan clocked in at 3:35.42.  At the end of the meet, Utah won 197-101.<\/p>\n<p>In the men&#39;s 400 free relay, a similar finish awaited the teams.  Utah wound up with a 196-101 triumph although the quartet of Johnson, Alger, Tanner Folster and DeCarolis exhibitioned its winning time of 3:09.27.
