AMIENS – The final day of competition at the Golden Tour in Amiens produced a world best by Moniek Nijhuis and plenty of top five times. Meanwhile, the Iron Lady Katinka Hosszu grabbed four more titles.<\/p>\n
Nijhuis rocketed to the top of the world rankings in the women’s 50-meter breast with a time of 31.06. \u00a0That swim moved her past Sophie Taylor’s 31.47 from the Speedo Flanders Cup into first in the world. \u00a0Nijhuis previously had a 31.48 from prelims today to stand second.<\/p>\n
Charlotte Bonnet touched second this evening in 31.95 to jump to third in the world as just the third swimmer to break 32 seconds this year. \u00a0Nolwenn Herve picked up third in 32.21 for seventh in the world rankings.<\/p>\n
Jeremy Stravius vaulted to second in the world in the men’s 50-meter back with a 25.20 for the win. \u00a0That time put him behind only Camille Lacourt’s 24.89 from the Nice stop of the Golden Tour.<\/p>\n
Eddie Moueddene touched second in 25.87 to grab 12th in the world, while Turkey’s Iskender Baslakov finished third in 26.28.<\/p>\n
Stravius doubled up with a 49.40 to win the men’s 100-meter free. \u00a0Sebastiaan Verschuren took second in 50.10 with Robert Renwick claiming third in 50.15.<\/p>\n
Hendrik Feldwehr led a German 1-2-3 in the men’s 50-meter breast. \u00a0Feldwehr clocked a time of 27.76 to move to second in the world rankings behind Adam Peaty’s 26.95 from the Speedo Flanders Cup.<\/p>\n
Marco Koch placed second in 28.24 to tie his fifth-ranked season best from the Luxembourg Euro Meet, while Christian Vom Lehn took third in 28.82.<\/p>\n
Femke Heemskerk jumped to third in the world in the women’s 100-meter free with a 53.63, while Ranomi Kromowidjojo wound up second in 54.85. \u00a0Charlotte Bonnet took third in 54.86.<\/p>\n
Katinka Hosszu kicked off the final day of swimming with a meet-record 28.43 to win the women’s 50-meter back. \u00a0That swim moved her to sixth in the world so far this year.<\/p>\n
The Netherland’s Maaike De Waard took second overall in 28.64 to tie Daryna Zevina for seventh in the world, while France’s Camille Gheorgiu earned third in 29.22.<\/p>\n
Hosszu collected her second win of the day with a 4:07.36 in the women’s 400-meter free. \u00a0That’s just off her third-ranked season best of 4:07.26 from the Nice stop of the Golden Tour.<\/p>\n
Coralie Balmy touched a distant second in 4:13.01 with Annika Bruhn claiming third in 4:18.91.<\/p>\n
Hosszu tacked on her third victory of the session with a 2:09.59 in the women’s 200-meter fly. \u00a0That time bettered her sixth-ranked season best of 2:09.90 from the Austin stop of the Arena Pro Swim Series, but wasn’t enough to leapfrog Madeline Groves (2:09.49) into fifth in the world.<\/p>\n
Evelyn Verraszto took second in 2:10.72, while Marie Wattel placed third in 2:15.75.<\/p>\n
Hosszu snared her fourth title of the day with a 2:11.93 in the women’s 200-meter IM. \u00a0That swim is well off her world-best 2:10.36 from the Speedo Flanders Cup, but was more than enough to win today.<\/p>\n
Verraszto finished second again behind Hosszu, this time with a 2:15.73, while Adeline Martin picked up third in 2:18.30.<\/p>\n
Damien Joly claimed the men’s 400-meter free crown in 3:53.06 with The Netherlands’ Maarten Brzoskowski taking second in 3:55.34. Simon Guerin wound up third in 3:57.74.<\/p>\n
David Verraszto topped the men’s 200-meter fly with a time of 1:58.82 to move to eighth in the world. \u00a0Cameron Brodie placed second in 1:59.40 for 12th in the world, while Mickael Gunning claimed third today with a 2:01.43.<\/p>\n
Jeremy Desplanches captured the men’s 200-meter IM in 2:01.18 to take ninth in the world, while Germany’s Marco Koch took second in 2:01.89. \u00a0Verraszto finished third in 2:02.43.<\/p>\n
