For more information about Agon, visit their website\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.agonswim.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Agonswim.com<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>INDIANAPOLIS &#8211; Carmel swimming took down a second and third national high school record today with a new marks in the girls 200-yard freestyle relay and the 400 free relay at the Indiana High School Girls State Championships.<\/p>\n<p>The quartet of Veronica Burchill (22.29), Claire Adams (22.53), Kendall Smith (22.77) and Trude Rothrock (23.13) put up a swift 1:30.72 in the 200.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s the first 1:30 time in girls high school history, besting the previous top time of <a title=\"Baylor School Ladies Set National Record in 200 Free Relay at Tennessee State Champs\" href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/baylor-school-ladies-set-national-record-in-200-free-relay-at-tennessee-state-champs\/\" target=\"_blank\">1:31.18 set by Baylor&#8217;s Kristen Vredeveld (22.27), Ashley Yearwood (23.11), Kimberlee John-Williams (22.85) and Bria Deveaux (22.95) in Tennessee<\/a> three years ago.<\/p>\n<p>Incidentally, the time also lowered <a title=\"Carmel Girls Sweep National Public High School Relay Records En Route To 28th State Title\" href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/carmel-girls-sweep-national-public-high-school-relay-records-en-route-to-28th-state-title\/\" target=\"_blank\">Carmel&#8217;s public school mark of 1:31.37 set last year with Amy Bilquist<\/a> on the squad.<\/p>\n<p>Carmel finished just half-a-second off its own 15-18 U.S. National Age Group record of 1:30.13 set in 2013 on the club circuit.<\/p>\n<p>Carmel then closed out the day with another high school mark, this time in the 400-yard free relay.<\/p>\n<p>The first two relay records of the day were significant, but nothing compared to Carmel whacking nearly five seconds off the 400-yard free relay record.<\/p>\n<p>Veronica Burchill (48.48), Adams (48.68), Smith (50.52) and Bilquist (47.70) blitzed the field with a stunning 3:15.38.<\/p>\n<p>That swim obliterated Carmel&#8217;s public school mark of <a title=\"Carmel Girls Sweep National Public High School Relay Records En Route To 28th State Title\" href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/carmel-girls-sweep-national-public-high-school-relay-records-en-route-to-28th-state-title\/\" target=\"_blank\">3:21.20 from 2014 set by Veronica\u00a0Burchill (50.46), Katie Lemen (51.74), Smith (50.30) and Adams (48.70)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s performance also crushed the overall and independent school mark of <a title=\"Carondelet First High School To Clear 3:21 in Girls 400 Free Relay\" href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/carondelet-first-high-school-to-clear-321-in-girls-400-free-relay\/\" target=\"_blank\">3:20.42 set by Carondelet&#8217;s\u00a0Chelsea Chenault (49.27), Natalie Amberg (51.19), Maddie Murphy (49.82) and\u00a0Madison White (50.14) back in 2013<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This performance is as dominant of a record progression as the<a title=\"Bolles School Makes History, Sweeps National High School Relay Records; Schooling Breaks 100 Fly Mark \u2013 Full Videos Available\" href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/bolles-school-makes-history-sweeps-national-high-school-relay-records-schooling-breaks-100-fly-mark-full-videos-available\/\" target=\"_blank\"> Bolles boys mark of 2:54.43 that completely annihilated the Holy Grail of 3:00<\/a> that had stood at the high school level until 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Incidentally, Carmel&#8217;s time also cleared the 15-18 U.S. National Age Group record of 3:16.58 set by Palo Alto Stanford&#8217;s Maddy Schaefer, Julia Ama, Alicia Grima and Jasmine Tosky back in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>National Records for High School Are Pending Application Verification.\u00a0 Click Here to Learn More: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.niscaonline.org\/AwardPrograms\/AASwimming.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.niscaonline.org\/<wbr \/>AwardPrograms\/AASwimming.aspx<\/a><\/p>\n<p>David Woods of the Indy Star is on scene live tweeting the event for <em>Swimming World<\/em>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"oembed-wrap\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">No <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/amybilquist?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@amybilquist<\/a> in 200 free relay.
