{"id":123012,"date":"2015-02-13T10:48:22","date_gmt":"2015-02-13T17:48:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=123012"},"modified":"2015-02-13T10:48:22","modified_gmt":"2015-02-13T17:48:22","slug":"florent-manaudou-fires-world-best-50-free-amiens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/florent-manaudou-fires-world-best-50-free-amiens\/","title":{"rendered":"Florent Manaudou Fires Off World Best in 50 Free in Amiens"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>AMIENS &#8211; France&#8217;s Florent Manaudou definitely stole the show on night one of the Amiens stop of the Golden Tour.<\/p>\n<p>Manaudou blasted the meet record in the men&#8217;s 50-meter free with a time of 21.81. \u00a0That performance not only cleared the meet mark, it also beat Manaudou&#8217;s previous world-best time of 21.89 from the Golden Tour stop in Nice.<\/p>\n<p>Fred Bousquet touched second overall tonight in 22.68,w hile Mehdy Metella wound up third in 22.89.<\/p>\n<p>Metella followed with a 52.41 to win the men&#8217;s 100-meter fly and move up to fourth in the world rankings. \u00a0Jordan Coelho (53.96) and Valerio Coggi (54.41) took second and third.<\/p>\n<p>The Netherlands&#8217; Inge Dekker smashed the women&#8217;s 100-meter fly finale with a 58.25. \u00a0That moved her to second in the world to Emma McKeon&#8217;s 58.24 from the BHP Super Series.<\/p>\n<p>France&#8217;s Marie Wattel finished second in 58.68 to move into the top 10, while Katinka Hosszu collected bronze with a\u00a059.06.<\/p>\n<p>The Netherlands&#8217; Ranomi Kromowidjojo turned in a meet-record time in the women&#8217;s 50-meter free with a 24.80.<\/p>\n<p>That performance shot her into a third-ranked tie with Brittany Elmslie in the world rankings. \u00a0Only Cate (24.03) and Bronte (24.24) Campbell have been faster this year.<\/p>\n<p>The Netherlands&#8217; Femke Heemskerk touched second in 25.10 to move to ninth in the world, while France&#8217;s Anna Santamans took third tonight in 25.27 for 11th.<\/p>\n<p>France&#8217;s Damien Joly jumped to the top of the world in the men&#8217;s 800-meter free with a time of 7:56.90.<\/p>\n<p>That swim cleared Mykhailo Romanchuk&#8217;s previous world best of 7:57.63 set during the Nice stop of the Golden Tour with the pair being the only two to break 8:00 this year.<\/p>\n<p>Hungary&#8217;s David Verraszto finished second in 8:02.87 with Germany&#8217;s Jacob Heidtmann earning third in 8:03.69.<\/p>\n<p>Hosszu, who also\u00a0took fourth in the 50 free with a 25.44, won the women&#8217;s 200-meter back in 2:10.03 for the meet record.<\/p>\n<p>That swim clipped her previous season best of 2:10.09 from Nice that ranks her fourth in the world, but wasn&#8217;t enough to leapfrog Dominique Bouchard&#8217;s third-ranked 2:10.02 from the Austin stop of the Arena Pro Swim Series.<\/p>\n<p>Evelyn Verraszto of Hungary clocked a second-place time of 2:14.13, while Germany&#8217;s Lisa Graf earned third-place honors in 2:17.90.<\/p>\n<p>France&#8217;s Giacomo Perez Dortona answered <a title=\"Hannah Miley Doubles Up on Night One of Arena Pro Swim Series Orlando\" href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/hannah-miley-doubles-up-on-night-one-of-arena-pro-swim-series-orlando\/\" target=\"_blank\">a volley of fast 1:01 100 breast times from the U.S.<\/a>, with one of his own as he clocked a 1:01.20 to win the men&#8217;s 100-meter breast title. \u00a0That moved him into the top five in the world.<\/p>\n<p>Germany&#8217;s Marco Koch improved his top-10 season best of 1:01.73 from the Luxembourg Euro Meet with a second-place 1:01.26, while Germany&#8217;s Hendrik Feldwehr rounded out a close finish with a third-place 1:01.27.<\/p>\n<p>France&#8217;s Jeremy Stravius topped the men&#8217;s 200-meter back finale with a 1:59.37, while Germany&#8217;s Christian Diener touched just behind with a second-place 1:59.96.
