FAIRFIELD, Connecticut, October 21. THE Fairfield swimming and diving team suffered a tough pair of losses to Loyola and Providence Colleges this afternoon in a double dual meet at the Rec Plex. The men's team fell to Loyola, 89-48 and to Providence, 104-34. The women's team dropped an 81-59 decision to Loyola and fell to Providence 88.50-51.50. The women's team falls to 1-2 on the season and 1-1 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) while the men fall to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in the MAAC. <\/p>\n
On the women's side, senior Jennifer Masi remained undefeated in the 50-free and 100-free as she took the top spot in both events. In the 50-free, she posted a time of 27.74 seconds to edge out Loyola freshman Megan Royer by .08 seconds. In the 100-free she clocked a time of 1:02.19 for the win. <\/p>\n
Senior Brittany Hunter was a double winner for the Stags. She opened the day with a victory in the 800-meter freestyle with a time of 9:45.57. After placing second in the 200-meter butterfly with a time of 2:28.85, she captured the 400-meter freestyle with a time of 4:44.99. Hunter also placed third in the 200-IM with a time of 2:34.26. <\/p>\n
Junior Katharine Yee was also a double winner as she swept both diving events. In the 1-meter, she tallied a score of 191.93 while posting a mark of 206.40. Freshman Hillary Urbancic finished fourth in the 1-meter with a score of 137.10 while Liz Freskakis took fourth in the 3-meter with a score of 108.98. <\/p>\n
Junior Liz Lawlor took second in the 100-breaststroke with a time of 1:18.10 and second in the 200-breaststroke with a time of 2:52.33. <\/p>\n
Junior Rachel Waldstein placed fourth in the 100-fly with a time of 1:12.55 while Erin Carrather placed fourth in the 200-back in a time of 2:36.10. <\/p>\n
On the men's side, the Stags swept both diving events. In the 3-meter senior Diego Ibarra won the event with a score 214.88, followed by freshman Taylor Stecko with 192.60 points and Christan Lopez with 114.23. In the 1-meter, Stecko captured his third victory of the season with a mark of 216.68. He was followed by Ibarra with 200.18 points and senior Russ Laub with a mark of 176.85. <\/p>\n
Junior Brian Lloyd placed third in the 200-IM with a time of 2:30.92 and fourth in the 200-back with a time of 2:26.31. <\/p>\n
Sophomore Sean McGonigle had a pair of fourth-place finishes on the day. He took fourth in the 200-free with a time of 2:05.98 and fourth in the 100-free with a time 57.45. Matt Rimmer placed fourth in the 100-back with a time of 1:07.74.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
