Ledecky opened with a national high school record while many meet records were also set. Georgetown Prep took home the boys’ team title for the second straight year while the girls of Churchill had a repeat performance as well, winning the girls’ team title in back to back years.

Boys 200 Medley Relay
Georgetown Prep routed the field in the A-Final to win in 1:31.90 (24.10, 23.89, 22.64, 21.27), setting a new meet record. Carsten Vissering dropped a blistering 23.89 breaststroke, which would likely be top-5 best at NCAA’s. Gonzaga College High was second at 1:33., with Montgomery Blair High in third. Clarksburg High School got the meet rolling with a B-Final just touching out Northwest High School, 1:41.21 to 1:41.56.

Girls 200 Medley Relay
Churchill High School held off a late charge from Northwest High School to win in 1:47.96 (26.61, 31.90, 25.06, 24.39) with Northwest going 1:48.27. Walter Johnson just beat out Sherwood High School for third place with a 1:49.37. Quince Orchard High School won the B-Final with a 1:53.90.

Boys 200 Free
In one of the most thrilling races of the night, Matthew Hirschberger of Georgetown Prep won in a meet record 1:37.13. Brennan Novak of Gonzaga nearly beat Hirschberger with a 1:37.35. Georgetown Prep’s Adrian Lin was third in 1:37.44 after leading for much of the race. The B-Final was won by Springbrook’s James Hisnanick in 1:44.16.

Girls 200 Free
It was all Katie Ledecky as she raced to a new National High School Record with a 1:41.55, which beat her own 1:41.82 she set last week. Ledecky was all alone from the start, splitting 23.96, 25.49, 26.04, 26.06 for the dominating victory. Tying for second in 1:50.58 were Madison Waechter of Montgomery Blair and Elaina Gu of Churchill. Gail Anderson of Einstein had a big drop from prelims to take the B-Final with a 1:54.67.

Boys 200 IM
While it was not as fast as the 1:48.10 he was last year, Carsten Vissering took home his third straight 200 IM title at Metros with a 1:50.83. Vissering’s Georgetown Prep teammate Brandon Goldstein nabbed second with a strong freestyle leg, going 1:52.02. Bouke Edskes of Richard Montgomery took third with a 1:53.35 after nearly leading at the 100. The B-Final win went to Wootton’s Daniel Yook with a 1:56.69, a nice drop from prelims for him.

Girls 200 IM
Madeira’s Kylie Jordan went out hard and never looked back as she raced to the win, going 2:01.25. Emily Zhang of Wootton raced to second with a 2:04.00, while Dylan Gribble of Northwest was third in 2:06.06. Kathleen Matusek of Magruder and Dorit Song of Poolesville tied for the B-Final win in 2:10.62.

Boys 50 Free
Harvard-bound Grant Goddard of Georgetown Prep defended his 50 free title from last year, winning in a very fast 20.65. The rest of the field was nearly a full second behind, as Gonzaga’s Tom Benson took second in 21.46, while Blake’s Brady Ott went 21.55 for third. The B-Final victory went to Churchill’s Colin Mackey in 22.10, which just beat Richard Montgomery’s John Jeang 22.19.

Girls 50 Free
Holton-Arms senior Caroline McTaggart got her meet rolling with the win, going 22.69 for a new meet record. The former meet record holder and defending champion, Morgan Hill, was second with a 23.01. That just missed her 22.97 from last year. Finishing third in the race was Audrey Richter of Richard Montgomery in 23.99. Paint Branch High’s Melanie Doan eked out the win in the B-Final with a 24.50.

Boys 100 Fly
After a short break, Grant Goddard was back to win a second event and he accomplished that feat in a close battle. Goddard held off a charging Rory Lewis of Einstein to win, 48.71 to 48.79. That time for Goddard was a tick slower than last year, but enough to defend this title. For the Penn State commit Lewis, that time was a new lifetime best. Well back in third was Karl Treichel of Wootton, who went 51.24. Georgetown Prep’s Kevin Berry raced to a dominating B-Final, going 51.28 for a big personal best. That time would have gotten fourth in the A-Final.

Girls 100 Fly
Madeira’s Kylie Jordan was back in business, winning her specialty in 53.53 for a new meet record and lifetime best. Emily Wang of Wootton raced to a strong second with a 55.85. Hannah Kannan of Montgomery Blair edged out the rest of the field for third in 56.62. Olivia McGrath of Bethesda Chevy-Chase finished first in the B-Final with a 59.52.

Boys 100 Free
Ryan Baker of Gonzaga went out hard and held off Adrian Lin of Georgetown Prep to win in 44.85, a new meet record. Lin nearly broke the record of 45.00, going 45.13 for second. Mike Sullivan of Walt Whitman High was well back in third with a 46.44. Georgetown Prep’s Andrew Omenitsch dropped over a second from prelims to win the B-Final in 47.95.

Girls 100 Free
Caroline McTaggart pulled off the sprint double in fine fashion, crushing her meet record of 49.72 by going 48.75. That time is a lifetime best and should make her future UCLA coaches very excited. Morgan Hill of Sherwood took second again, going 50.50. McTaggart’s Holton-Arms teammate Isabelle Jubin took third in 52.25. Poolesville’s Dorit Song took her second B-Final win of the meet with a 53.29.

Boys 500 Free
Although it was not the NAG record Matthew Hirschberger was likely hoping for, he got the win for Georgetown Prep with a 4:19.95. That time is a little off the 4:17.13 he did in prelims Friday night. Gonzaga’s Brennan Novak captured another runner-up finish with a 4:25.34, while defending champ Gavin Springer of Sidwell was third in 4:28.04. Consistent splits netted John McClorey of The Heights School the B-Final in 4:43.49.

Girls 500 Free
Katie Ledecky took a stab at her American record from Friday night and was under pace for 300 yards before falling off and winning in 4:27.88. That time is still the second-fastest in history behind her record 4:26.58 and she remains the only female to ever break 4:30 in the 500 free (she has done it four times). The runner-up in the 200, Madison Waechter of Montgomery Blair, took another second with a 4:54.79. Third place went to Gail Anderson of Einstein with a 5:00.37. Madeira’s Maddie Heilburn uncorked a nice drop from prelims to take the B-Final with a 5:05.63.

Boys 200 Free Relay
Georgetown Prep raced to another relay win in dominating, meet record fashion, going 1:24.34 (20.94, 20.86, 21.14, 21.40). Gonzaga took second in 1:25.36, while Richard Montgomery raced to third with a 1:26.47. DeMatha pulled out the B-Final victory with a 1:31.80 touch out of Good Counsel.

Girls 200 Free Relay
Holton-Arms stormed to victory with a 1:35.59 (25.17, 24.26, 23.86, 22.30) thanks to huge anchor leg from McTaggart, who split a 22.30. Stone Ridge High took second in 1:36.98 with Katie Ledecky providing a fast 22.34 anchor. Third place went to Madeira with a 1:38.00. The B-Final win went to Holy Cross Academy, edging out Sherwood High, 1:42.38 to 1:42.43. It is worth noting that Katie Ledecky’s individual 200 free would have been 10th overall in the 200 free relay.

Boys 100 Back
Gonzaga’s Ryan Baker pulled out his second win of the meet with a 49.39. St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes Ian Thompson took second in 50.50 after being even with Baker at the 50. Georgetown Prep’s Brandon Goldstein was third in 50.91. Wootton’s Daniel Chen won the B-Final in 53.63.

Girls 100 Back
Churchill cemented their team title by going 1-2 with Hannah Lindsey winning in 56.22 and Emily Wang in second with a 56.78. Third place went to Sherwood’s Margarita Ryan in 57.20. Emily Schlosser of Holy Cross pulled out the win in the B-Final with a 1:00.24.

Boys 100 Breast
Carsten Vissering routed the field with a meet record 53.22. That swim just missed Jacob Molacek’s national record of 52.92. Quince Orchard’s Eli Fouts was second in 56.47, a lifetime best by a full second for the freshman. Walter Johnson’s Jacob Zucker was third in 57.00. Devin McNulty of Gonzaga torched the B-Final, winning in 58.83.

Girls 100 Breast
Northwest’s Jaycee Yegher lit up the field, winning in a 1:02.97, a huge best time for the sophomore. Churchill’s Fiona Asbury snatched the B-Final win with a 1:09.03.

Boys 400 Free Relay
Georgetown Prep wrapped up a sweep of the relays at this meet, crushing the meet record to win in 3:03.84 (45.68, 46.69, 45.28, 46.19). Gonzaga finished second in 3:11.50 with Good Counsel grabbing third in 3:14.24. Caroline McTaggart closed out a remarkable high school career with a monstrous 48.05 split, while Ledecky closed out hers with a 48.35 as Stone Ridge finished fifth.
