NICE – The Iron Lady Katinka Hosszu kicked off the Golden Tour series with a trio of golds on night one in Nice. \u00a0Meanwhile, Florent Manaudou and Mykhaylo Romanchuk dropped a few world-leaders in their respective events.<\/p>\n

Hosszu opened the first night of swimming every single event this weekend with a 25.32 to top the women’s 50-meter free. \u00a0That swim put her ninth in the world behind Sarah Sjostrom’s preliminary swim of 25.27 from this morning. \u00a0Sjostrom elected to scratch finals.<\/p>\n

France’s Anna Santamans took second in 25.49 with Sweden’s Michelle Coleman placing third in 25.68.<\/p>\n

Hosszu returned for a second victory, this time in the women’s 800-meter free as she posted an 8:45.84. \u00a0France’s Alizee Morel touched second in 8:52.10 with Italy’s Susanna Negri winding up third in 8:52.49.<\/p>\n

Hosszu collected win number 3 in the women’s 200-meter back with a 2:10.09 to move into a fourth-ranked tie with Elizabeth Beisel in the world rankings.<\/p>\n

Ukraine’s Daryna Zevina touched second in 2:13.09 with Hungary’s Evelyn Verraszto placing third in 2:14.03.<\/p>\n

Hosszu had her winning streak snapped in the women’s 100-meter breast. \u00a0France’s Charlotte Bonnet won in 1:10.07 with compatriot Adeline Martin taking second in 1:10.55. \u00a0Sweden’s Stina Gardell claimed third in 1:10.79.<\/p>\n

Hosszu wound up taking sixth in 1:11.87 after clocking a personal best time of 1:10.60 in prelims to lead qualifying.<\/p>\n

France’s Marie Wattel posted a 59.47 to win the women’s 100-meter fly, while Hosszu earned her fourth medal of the night in 1:00.16. \u00a0Gardell also picked up another medal as she took bronze in 1:00.52.<\/p>\n

France’s Florent Manaudou blasted the top time in the world in the men’s 50-meter free with a sizzling 21.89. \u00a0That swim cleared Bruno Fratus’ 21.91 from the Austin stop of the Arena Pro Swim Series.<\/p>\n

Manaudou put up that time in clear water as compatriot Jeremy Stravius wound up second in 22.74. \u00a0Germany’s Steffen Deibler touched third in 22.94.<\/p>\n

Ukraine’s Mykhaylo Romanchuk became the first man under 15:00 this year in the men’s 1500-meter free with a world-leading 14:58.49. \u00a0France’s Damien Joly (15:18.31) and Anthony Pannier (15:27.76) rounded out the podium.<\/p>\n

Germany’s Christian Diener stormed his way to fifth in the world rankings in the men’s 200-meter back with a 1:58.82. \u00a0France’s Ben Stasiulis placed second in 2:01.36 with Germany’s Yannick Lebherz posting a third-place 2:01.87.<\/p>\n

France’s Giacomo Perez Dortona led the way in the men’s 100-meter breast with a 1:01.75 to move to fifth in the world. \u00a0Sweden’s Erik Persson took second in 1:02.58 with Germany’s Hendrik Feldwehr claiming third in 1:02.70.<\/p>\n

France’s Mehdy Metella clocked a 52.86 to win the men’s 100-meter fly and move to second in the early world rankings behind Jack Conger’s 51.64. \u00a0Sweden’s Simon Sjodin finished second in 53.76 with France’s Jordan Coelho earning third in 54.20.<\/p>\n
