USTER – David and Evelyn Verraszto, the Hungarian swimming siblings, were on fire during the second day of the International Meeting in Uster.<\/p>\n
Hungary’s David Verraszto lowered his own meet record in the men’s 400-meter IM with a 4:07.99. \u00a0That swim cleared his 2011 mark of 4:08.04 and dominated the rest of the field tonight.<\/p>\n
Giorgio Gaetani (4:12.49) and Ben Gratz (4:15.11) managed to take second and third behind Verraszto, but couldn’t come close to the meet-record holder.<\/p>\n
Marco Koch hit the wall in 2:06.36 to win the men’s 200-meter breaststroke, while Verraszto took second in 2:09.12. \u00a0Luca Pizzini picked up third in 2:09.75.<\/p>\n
Hungary’s Evelyn Verraszto won the women’s 400-meter IM in 4:41.49 with Teresa Strickner (4:45.41) and Lisa Stamm (4:47.23) rounding out the top three.<\/p>\n
Verraszto doubled up with a 1:58.93 to win the women’s 200-meter free. \u00a0Rachele Ceracchi (1:59.82) and Margherita Panziera (2:00.75) took second and third.<\/p>\n
Finland’s Ari-Pekka Liukkonen picked up the men’s 50-meter free victory in 21.70, just a bit off his Finnish record of 21.34 from 2012. \u00a0Russia’s Andrey Grechin took second in 22.21 with Switzerland’s Alexandre Haldemann taking third in 22.48.<\/p>\n
Italy’s Niccolo Bonacchi won the men’s 100-meter back title in 51.77 with compatriot Matteo Milli placing second in 52.34. \u00a0Germany’s Felix Wolf nabbed third in 53.50.<\/p>\n
Daniele D’Angelo topped the men’s 100-meter fly in 52.24 with Marco Belotti earning second in 52.35 in a close finish. Haldemann claimed another bronze with a 52.84 for third overall.<\/p>\n
Haldemann ended up with three medals on the second night after winning the men’s 200-meter free in 1:45.28. \u00a0Belotti took second in 1:45.98 as he couldn’t replicate his meet-record speed of 1:44.42 from prelims. \u00a0Damiano Lestingi took third in 1:47.94.<\/p>\n
Sasha Touretski clipped Germany’s Nele Klein, 25.39 to 25.48, in the women’s 50-meter free. \u00a0Elena Czeschner earned third in 25.99.<\/p>\n
Carlotta Zofkova led an Italian 1-2-3 in the women’s 100-meter back with a 59.83. \u00a0Margherita Panziera (59.88) and Giulia Spaziani (1:01.64) also made the podium.<\/p>\n
Germany’s Alexandra Wenk snatched the women’s 100-meter fly crown in 58.84 with Danielle Villars taking second in 59.52. \u00a0Maria Ugolkova wound up third in 1:00.10.<\/p>\n
Ilaria Scarcella claimed the women’s 200-meter breast title in 2:26.31 with Sibylle Graenicher taking a distant second in 2:31.27. \u00a0Lisa Mamie finished third in 2:32.10.<\/p>\n
