VERMILLION – South Dakota State swimming claimed bragging rights with a sweep against South Dakota Friday night.<\/p>\n
For the second time this season, SDSU swept USD in the pool. This time the Jackrabbit men won,182-108, while the women won, 155-139.<\/p>\n
On the men’s side, SDSU swept both relays as Matthew Carpenter, Josh DeDina, Chris Rumrill and Geoffrey Longhurst won the 400 medley relay, while Ben Bolinske, John Overman, Blake Yeager and Daniel Jacobson won the 200 free relay.<\/p>\n
Chris Angerhofer swept the distance freestyles, as he touched in the 800 in 8:55.56 and the 400 in 4:16.50. Alex McLain also picked up a sweep in the backstrokes, as the senior won the 100 meter in 58.85 and the 200 in 2:10.20.<\/p>\n
Ben Bolinske added two more wins in the 50 and 100 frees. The junior touched in 23.60 and 52.54 in the 100.<\/p>\n
On the boards, Connor Florand won the 3-meter with a score of 300.75 and the 1-meter with a 262.50.<\/p>\n
On the women’s side, Kendra Hinton won the 800 meter freestyle in 9:26.17, while Sam Prasher won the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:07.65.<\/p>\n
Senior Emily Campbell added another sweep to her impressive season with wins in both breaststrokes. She won the 100 in 1:14.36 and the 200 in 2:40.26. Campbell also added a win in the 200 IM in 2:26.79.<\/p>\n
Abby Zenner also won the 50 free in 27.42, while Cassie Hendricks added a win in 200 back in 2:25.59.<\/p>\n
SDSU returns to the pool January 31 at UND.<\/p>\n
South Dakota sophomore Greysen Hertting set a new school record in the three-meter dive while sophomore Sam Schutt added four event wins as the South Dakota swimming and diving teams fell to South Dakota State on Friday at the DakotaDome. The Jackrabbit women won 155-139 and the men led 182-108.<\/p>\n
Hertting recorded a score of 320.33 points in the three-meter dive to best her own school record of 301.50 set earlier this season. Hertting\u2019s score also broke a six-year-old DakotaDome pool record. Hertting added a win in the one-meter dive with 239.48 points.<\/p>\n
Schutt won the 100-meter (58.59), 200-meter (2:07.62) and 400-meter (4:28.25) individual freestyle events. She also anchored a victorious 400-meter relay. Schutt dove into the pool three strokes behind the South Dakota State anchor, but split 57.65 seconds in the freestyle leg to win the opening relay for the Coyotes.<\/p>\n
Adding two more sophomore wins for the Coyote women, Tayler Kirtley and Allie Pfauth edged the competition in the butterfly. Kirtley recorded a time of 1:07.27 to win the 100-meter fly, while Pfauth finished first in the 200-meter fly in 2:28.32.<\/p>\n
The women\u2019s 200-meter freestyle relay of freshman Kellee Lekavy, sophomore Erin Kleiner, junior Hannah Veselik and senior Torie Buberl prevailed with a time of 1:51.19.<\/p>\n
Senior Colin Krysl swept the butterfly events to lead the men. Krysl captured the 200-meter fly in 2:10.06, then returned to take the 100-meter fly in 57.07 seconds.<\/p>\n
The sophomore duo of Jaden Van Dike and Jacob Knowles took the 100 and 200-meter breaststroke events, respectively. Van Dike clocked in at 1:06.72 and Knowles finished in 2:29.59.<\/p>\n
Senior Blake Frederick added a win in the 200-meter freestyle when he notched a time of 1:56.16.<\/p>\n
South Dakota returns to the DakotaDome pool tomorrow to dual North Dakota at 2 p.m.<\/p>\n
