BONAIRE, Netherlands Antilles, October 20. BONAIRE EcoSwim will present its sixth edition of the event on Saturday. The event will feature a 5k, 10k and metric mile event along Bonaire\u2019s coast.<\/p>\n
Swimming in this year\u2019s event are 2006 United States Masters Coach of the year Sue Welker along with her Naperville (Ill.) Waves Swim Team. Bob Bruce, USMS coaches\u2019 committee chair and former coach of the year, will also swim while leading a contingent from Oregon.<\/p>\n
In 1979, the waters around Bonaire were protected and designated an official marine park, helping Bonaire earn its reputation as one of the world's most beautiful dive locations. Thanks to Bonaire's pristine reefs and diverse marine life, which are unique to the Caribbean, and the diligent stewardship of its marine resources, a water lover\u2019s paradise was created.
