The women are starting to believe that they can be as good as they are, and only losing by one point is pretty big for us. Indiana’s men are very good and we fell a little short, but we know that we can be better.”

Once again, the women’s relay teams started the day off on a high note, as Ivy Martin, Solveig Viren, Anna Meinholz and Aja Van Hout combined to capture first place in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of one minute, 33.69 seconds. With Milwaukee and Green Bay coming up, we can fine tune a little bit and get ready for conference (championships).”

Wisconsin returns to the pool Feb. 6 and 7, hosting in-state opposition Milwaukee and Green Bay at the UW Natatorium for the final meets of the regular season.

Notre Dame Women’s Press Release

University of Notre Dame women’s swimming and diving seniors Allison Casareto and Emma Reaney each won an event Saturday on the final day of a two-day double dual meet with No. 24 Wisconsin and No. 14 Indiana.

Casareto, who finished second on the 3-meter board Friday night, claimed the victory on the 1-meter with 327.50 points, which was a new career-best mark in the event. Jan. 30-31.

Notre Dame Men’s Press Release

The University of Notre Dame men’s swimming and diving team had several key members of their team out this weekend due to the flu, and the lack of depth in the lineup played a crucial part in their 257-96 loss to Wisconsin. The Irish move to 3-5 on the season.

“We had some guys show a lot of effort yesterday, and we were a little better today,” Irish head coach Matt Tallman says of his team’s performance. “The guys put in some clear effort, but we are looking forward to getting back home to South Bend and training.
