NASHVILLE, Tennessee, September 8. VANDERBILT University named Jeremy Organ the head coach of the reborn women\u2019s swimming program in Nashville.<\/p>\n
"We are excited to begin our women's swimming program and become a part of a very competitive Southeastern Conference sport," Vice Chancellor David Williams said. "In Jeremy Organ we have a seasoned swimming expert who has both swam and coached successfully. He has a record of developing young swimmers and he will be an asset as we begin in this demanding league."<\/p>\n
Prior to joining the Commodores, Organ coached at the Nashville Aquatic Club since August 2002 as the senior assistant. Before coming to the Nashville Aquatic Club, Organ served as the senior coach at Greater Pensacola Aquatic Club. During his time at the GPAC, the club produced several national qualifiers and national age group top-16 swimmers.<\/p>\n
Organ graduated from the University of North Dakota, where he finished his career with six All-American certificates. After his time as a collegiate swimmer, Organ served as an assistant coach for his alma mater as well as the head coach for the Forks Area Swim Team. During that time, he garnered North Dakota Age Group Coach of the Year honors in 1998 and 1999.<\/p>\n
"I'm excited to start our program up from the ground floor," Organ said. "It's going to be a lot fun just to build something from scratch and Vanderbilt is already a great fit for swimmers. I'm very excited to build the program and watch us grow."<\/p>\n
The 2006 swim team will be the first Vanderbilt team since 1990, when the university was forced to drop the team due to inadequate facilities. The Commodores will make the nearby Centennial SportsPlex their new home with a schedule that begins this winter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
