IT took a world-record holder to do it, but Ian Crocker finally broke the losing skein for the Americans in the 2006 Mutual of Omaha Pan Pacific Championships on Saturday night with an impressive meet-standard conquest of the 100 fly.<\/p>\n<p>Crocker completely rolled over the rest of the field as he hit the wall in 51.47 to win the contest by more than a second.  His time surpassed his time of 51.78 set during preliminary competition.<\/p>\n<p>Crocker concluded the first half of the race with the only sub-24-second time en route to the remarkable triumph with a 23.85 split before closing the door with a 27.62 back half.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was happy with the result, I just wish my time would\u2019ve been a little better,\u201d Crocker said.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Japan captured the next two medals as Ryo Takayasu touched out countryman Takashi Yamamoto for silver, 52.59 to 52.71.<\/p>\n<p>The victory moved the American gold-medal tally to 13 for the meet.<\/p>\n<p><a href=http:\/\/65.110.72.225\/SPIPDF\/2006_PanPacs_Finals_Men_100_Fly.pdf target=_blank>Click Here to view event results PDF file<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>VICTORIA, British Columbia, Aug. 19.
