KATIE Hoff secured her second gold medal of the meet with a conquest of the 400-meter IM in meet-record fashion at the 2006 Mutual of Omaha Pan Pacific Championships on Friday.  <\/p>\n<p>After claiming the 200-meter freestyle title during day one, Hoff came back with a 4:36.82 in the 400 IM.  The performance broke the 13-year-old record of 4:39.25 previously held by the United States\u2019 Kristine Quance.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;I have definitely been trying to have a good back half and take it out a little easier,&quot; Hoff said. &quot;I think we really have come together well as a team and have had some fast swimming out there.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Ariana Kukors made it a sweep of the top-two spots for the Americans with a 4:39.68 for silver, while Australian Stephanie Rice turned in a bronze-winning 4:41.83.<\/p>\n<p>With the two-medal haul, the U.S. increased its medal tally to 16 (10G, 6S) to pace the field, while Japan stayed in second with nine (1G, 2S, 6B).
