REUNION – The Iron Lady Katinka Hosszu closed out the short course Indian Ocean Meet with gold medals in 16 out of the 17 available events. \u00a0She also set six Hungarian records, bringing her total to 16 out of the 18 available short course records.<\/p>\n
Hosszu started the final day of swimming with her fourth Hungarian record of the meet as she charged to a 1:05.60 in the women’s 100-meter breast. \u00a0That lowered the previous record of 1:07.06 set by Agnes Kovacs back in 1999, and left just three short course Hungarian records outside of Hosszu’s ownership.<\/p>\n
Notably, Charlotte Bonnet (1:07.40) and Chloe Cazier (1:10.58) took second and third in the finale.<\/p>\n
Hosszu then won the women’s 800-meter free in 8:26.46 as she basically swam the finale as a warm down. \u00a0She topped the Hungarian record earlier this year with an 8:08.41 for fourth in the world at the FINA World Cup. \u00a0Alizee Morel placed second in 8:41.17 with Mathilde Hoareau finishing third in 8:47.09.<\/p>\n
Hosszu’s third win of the night also featured another Hungarian record as she broke 26 seconds for the first time in the women’s 50-meter fly. \u00a0She raced to a 25.64 for the win, lowering her own mark of 26.17 from the Singapore stop of the 2013 FINA World cup. \u00a0The time put her tied for ninth in the world this year with Marieke D’Cruz. \u00a0Marie Wattel (26.22) and Anna Santamans (26.66) took second and third.<\/p>\n
Win number four for Hosszu came in the women’s 200-meter IM as she crushed the field with a 2:07.45. \u00a0That’s well off her world-record 2:01.86 from Worlds, but well ahead of Evelyn Verraszto’s second-place 2:11.07. \u00a0Coralie Codeville finished third in 2:11.61.<\/p>\n
Hosszu then won her fifth title of the night with a third Hungarian record in the session. Hosszu powered her way to a 52.37 to win the women’s 100-meter free, downing Evelyn Verraszto’s 2009 record of 52.90. Incredibly, that reduced Hosszu’s magic number to 2, as in two more short course Hungarian records until she owns them all. Charlotte Bonnet (53.07) and Cloe Hache (54.37) finished second and third tonight.<\/p>\n[table \u201c\u201d not found \/]

Also, for those wondering, Hosszu also owns nine of the 17 long course Hungarian records as well.<\/p>\n
Hosszu then rolled through the women’s 200-meter back in 2:06.39 for her sixth gold of the night. \u00a0Evelyn Verrastzo took second in 2:09.80 with Christelle Bertsch placing third in 2:19.91.<\/p>\n
South Africa’s Roland Schoeman touched out Jeremy Desplanches, 59.40 to 59.98, for the men’s 100-meter breast title. \u00a0Eddie Moueddene took third in 1:00.15.<\/p>\n
Schoeman doubled up with a 23.00 to win the men’s 50-meter fly, while Jeremy Stravius (23.13) and Thomas Avetand (24.67) finished second and third.<\/p>\n
Stravius bounced back in the men’s 100-meter free with a touchout triumph against Schoeman, 47.74 to 47.77. \u00a0USA’s Darian Townsend took third in 47.83.<\/p>\n
Townsend topped the men’s 200-meter IM in 1:55.33 with Jeremy Desplanches taking second in 1:57.58. \u00a0Theo Fuchs wound up third in 2:02.64.<\/p>\n
Benoit Debast won the men’s 1500-meter free in 15:13.62 with Pierre Legout earning second in 15:40.14. \u00a0Simon Bachmann hit the wall third in 17:09.11.<\/p>\n
Thomas Avetand claimed the men’s 200-meter back in 1:56.55 with Oleg Garasymovytch earning second in 1:56.87. \u00a0Damien Delmotte finished third in 2:13.04.<\/p>\n
Hosszu’s coach-husband Shane Tusup closed out his meet with 14th in prelims of the men’s 50-meter fly with a 27.05 before scratching B finals.<\/p>\n
