REUNION – The Iron Lady Katinka Hosszu is closing out 2014 in style as she captured five golds with a Hungarian record at the short course Indian Ocean Meet today.<\/p>\n
Hosszu kicked off a successful day with her first gold by way of the women’s 200-meter free. \u00a0She hit the wall in 1:53.06 for the win, well off her second-ranked season best of 1:51.18 from Worlds a month ago.<\/p>\n
France’s Charlotte Bonett (1:54.17) and Cloe Hache (1:58.54) placed second and third behind her.<\/p>\n
Hosszu clinched her second victory with a 27.02 in the women’s 50-meter back. \u00a0Her best time this year is a third-ranked 25.96 from Worlds. \u00a0Hungary’s Evelyn Verraszto (28.47) and France’s Marie Wattel (28.59) took second and third in the finale.<\/p>\n
Hosszu went three-for-three with a Hungarian record swim in the women’s 200-meter breast. She clocked a top time of 2:22.43 for the win. That swim gave Hosszu her 14th Hungarian national record as it broke the 2:23.33 set by Agnes Kovacs back in 2000.<\/p>\n

Bonnet (2:26.44) and France’s Geraldine Huffner (2:32.38) finished second and third.<\/p>\n
Hosszu’s fourth gold came in the women’s 100-meter fly with a 57.44, while Wattel (58.98) and Verraszto (59.05) also cleared 1:00 to round out the podium. \u00a0Hosszu closed out a five-gold day with a 4:31.65 in the women’s 400-meter IM. \u00a0Coralie Codeville (4:52.88) and Mathilde Hoareau (4:54.60) finished second and third.<\/p>\n
France’s Jeremy Stravius jumped to 13th in the world rankings in the men’s 50-meter back with a time of 23.38. \u00a0That moved him just ahead of Niccolo Bonacchi’s 23.39 from Worlds. \u00a0Thomas Avetand (25.20) and Eddie Moueddene (25.37) rounded out the podium.<\/p>\n
Stravius doubled up with a 51.36 to win the men’s 100-meter fly. \u00a0South Africa’s Roland Schoeman touched second in 52.01 with Eddie Moueddene taking third in 54.42.<\/p>\n
USA’s Darian Townsend turned in a 1:46.58 to top the men’s 200-meter freestyle today. France’s Theo Fuchs (1:47.59) and Benoit Debast (1:47.85) finished second and third.<\/p>\n
Jeremy Desplanches claimed the men’s 400-meter IM in 4:08.15 with Theo Fuchs (4:22.08) and Ambroise Petit (4:27.12) earning second and third.<\/p>\n
Vincent Clement topped the men’s 200-meter breast in 2:16.08 with Dimitri Faubourg finishing second in 2:21.11. \u00a0Quentin Pereira placed third in 2:24.83.<\/p>\n
Notably, Hosszu’s coach-husband Shane Tusup, a former swimmer himself who swam collegiately at USC, decided to get into the water here in Reunion. \u00a0He took eighth in the men’s 50-meter back in 27.86 after qualifying for finals in the morning with a 27.83.<\/p>\n
Tusup is scheduled to swim the 100 back and 50 fly.<\/p>\n
