{"id":118453,"date":"2014-12-27T17:09:42","date_gmt":"2014-12-28T00:09:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=118453"},"modified":"2014-12-27T17:12:37","modified_gmt":"2014-12-28T00:12:37","slug":"franz-resseguie-dynamo-assistant-head-coach-hired-tualatin-hills-head-coach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/franz-resseguie-dynamo-assistant-head-coach-hired-tualatin-hills-head-coach\/","title":{"rendered":"Franz Resseguie, Dynamo Assistant Head Coach, Hired as Tualatin Hills Head Coach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BEAVERTON &#8211; Tualatin Hills Swim Club acted fast as it hired Franz Resseguie as its new head coach following the <a title=\"Linck Bergen, Longtime Head Coach at Tualatin Hills, Fired\" href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/linck-bergen-longtime-head-coach-tualatin-hills-fired\/\" target=\"_blank\">termination of Linck Bergen last week<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Resseguie most recently was the assistant head coach at Dynamo Swim Club in Atlanta, Ga. \u00a0He spent a year there after five years at Tualatin Hills as the head age group coach.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Board is confident that we have succeeded in recruiting a highly regarded, experienced coach to join our excellent coaching staff, and one who will undoubtedly take THSC to never before seen heights,\u201d Tualatin Hills Board President Jay Epperson said.<\/p>\n<p>During his time at Tualatin Hills from 2008-13, the club broke two National Age Group relay records, more than 40 Oregon Swimming records, and wiped out nearly the entire Thunderbolt team record book.<\/p>\n<p>In 2011, Resseguie was named the\u00a0American Swim Coaches Association\u2019s Age Group Coach of the Year.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to Tualatin Hills, Resseguie worked with Olympic bronze medalist Caitlin Leverenz in Arizona. \u00a0He coached her to two national titles, a Pan American Games gold medal and a meet record as well as one National Age Group mark.<\/p>\n<p>Epperson stated that he also including USA Swimming Master coach Bob Steele in the hiring process as a consultant to help &#8220;develop a shortlist of potential candidates.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This is the first time in 10 years the team has had a new head coach. \u00a0Bergen had previously served as the head coach from 2004-14 after also serving as an assistant the previous five years.<\/p>\n<p>Bergen\u2019s father is Olympic coach Paul Bergen. \u00a0Tualatin Hills top event of the year, the Paul Bergen Junior International, underwent a name change last year to Thunderbolt Junior International SCM Championships following allegations from Olympic gold medalist Deena Deardurff Schmidt that Paul Bergen sexually abused her as a child.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BEAVERTON &#8211; Tualatin Hills Swim Club acted fast as it hired Franz Resseguie as its new head coach following the termination of Linck Bergen last week.
