OKLAHOMA CITY – Mission Viejo’s Katie McLaughlin and Wisconsin’s Michael Weiss both doubled at the King Marlin Elite Pro-Am tonight in Oklahoma City.<\/p>\n

Mission Viejo’s Katie McLaughlin nearly put up a lifetime best with a 1:45.04 to win the women’s 200-yard free. \u00a0That’s just off her high-school top time of 1:44.66 from May. PASA’s Karlee Bispo took second overall in 1:45.37 with DADS’ Alexandra Buscher finishing third in 1:48.53.<\/p>\n

McLaughlin doubled up with a winning time of 52.46 in the women’s 100-yard fly. The 17-year-old has been faster with a smoking fast 51.78 lifetime best that stands as the national public school record<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Hannah Siaz turned in a second-place time of 53.05 with SPA’s Bailee Nunn placing third in 54.75.<\/p>\n

Wisconsin’s Michael Weiss clinched the men’s 200-yard free title in 1:33.98. \u00a0That’s his first time under 1:34, beating his previous best of 1:34.66 as a relay leadoff for Wisconsin at the 2013 Big Ten Championships. \u00a0Mission Viejo’s Grant Shoults took second in 1:35.13 with BJ Hornikel placing third in 1:35.85.<\/p>\n

Weiss doubled up with a 3:43.05 to win the men’s 400-yard IM. \u00a0Terrapins’ Sean Mahoney took second overall in 3:52.03 with Minki Kang claiming third in 4:00.08.<\/p>\n

SwimMAC’s Katie Meili crushed her competition in the women’s 100-yard breast with a time of 58.91. \u00a0That performance fell just short of her personal best time of 58.44 from the 2013 Ivy League Championships.<\/p>\n

Schroeder Y’s Gwen Worlton took second overall in 1:02.25 with SPA’s Bailee Nunn placing third in 1:02.63.<\/p>\n

PASA’s BJ Johnson nearly matched his lifetime best with a 52.68 in the 100-yard breast. \u00a0That’s just off his 52.58 from the 2013 Minneapolis stop of the Arena Grand Prix. \u00a0Blair Bish took second in 53.86 with Trojan’s Julian Fletcher taking third in 55.97.<\/p>\n

Giles Smith, the sixth-fastest 100-yard flyer ever with a 44.73, cruised to victory in the event with a 45.22 tonight. \u00a0Smith’s teammate Alexandru Coci took second in 46.33 with PASA’s Eugene Godsoe earning third in 46.44.<\/p>\n

Local favorite Rylee Linhardt of King Marlin won the women’s 400-yard IM with a 4:18.29 at 16 years old. \u00a0Mission Viejo 14-year-old Jessica Epps took second in 4:23.63 with FAST’s 15-year-old Rayann Jaryszak taking third in 4:24.66.<\/p>\n

Editor’s Note: The meet is one o<\/em>f two dueling Oklahoma City-based Elite Pro-Ams this weekend. John Brown, the original head coach and founder of the meet when it began more than 20 years ago, has since moved on from the Kerr-McGee, then Chesapeake, and now American Energy Swim Club to the King Marlin Swim Club. He is hosting this version of the meet at the Oklahoma City Community College, the historic hosts of the fun winter-based short course yard professional event. Meanwhile, the meet\u2019s founding club, American Energy is hosting another\u00a0version\u00a0of the 23rd annual Oklahoma Elite Pro-Am at the Mitch Park YMCA with Josh Davis at the forefront of the event.<\/em><\/p>\n
