{"id":117600,"date":"2014-12-15T08:18:00","date_gmt":"2014-12-15T15:18:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=117600"},"modified":"2014-12-15T08:18:00","modified_gmt":"2014-12-15T15:18:00","slug":"erika-braun-masters-world-records","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/erika-braun-masters-world-records\/","title":{"rendered":"Erika Braun Part Of Three Masters World Records In Atlanta"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ATLANTA &#8211; Erika Braun finally achieved a goal she&#8217;s been working toward for the past three years: breaking Susan Von Der Lippe&#8217;s Masters world record in the 100 short course meters freestyle for the 40-44 age group.<\/p>\n<p>At the St. Nick&#8217;s championships, Braun posted a 57.08, beating Von Der Lippe&#8217;s six-year-old record of 57.55. Braun had gotten within three hundredths of the record, once in March 2013 and again in March 2014. Now 42 years old, Braun is within reach of the 57-second barrier.<\/p>\n<p>That record swim came as part of a relay world record for Raleigh Aquatic Masters in the 200-239 age group for the mixed 400 freestyle relay. Braun&#8217;s 57.08 was followed by a 57.79 from Henry Stewart, a 1:03.12 from 1980 Olympian Sue Walsh and a 59.11 by Jon Klein to post a 3:56.10. Team Blu Frog had the previous record of 3:57.16 from 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Braun&#8217;s third record came in the 50 freestyle with a 26.02. That beat her own record of 26.07 from this past March.<\/p>\n<p>Braun and Stewart were nearly part of another relay world record when they joined up with Kerry Lindauer and Van Fletcher for a 1:42.68 in the mixed 200 free relay for the 160-199 age group. That just missed Colorado Masters&#8217; 1:42.03 world record from 2009.<\/p>\n<p>In the individual 100 free, Braun swam a 57.55. She also swam a 28.46 in the 50 fly and 1:06.31 in the 100 fly.<\/p>\n<p><a
