COLLEGE PARK – At the Speedo Tom Dolan Invitational this morning, Penn Charter’s Reece Whitley took down the 13-14 U.S. National Age Group record in the 100-yard breaststroke.<\/p>\n

Whitley, who has had plenty of other national age group record success in the breaststroke the previous few years, is in his final year in the 13-14 age group as a 14-year-old.<\/p>\n

This morning, he clocked a sizzling 53.84 during preliminary qualifying in the event.<\/p>\n

He split the race 25.72, 28.12.<\/p>\n

That swim undercut the previous record of 53.88 set by Michael Andrew earlier this year before he aged up to 15 years old.<\/p>\n

Andrew split his race 25.07, 28.81 at the NASA Junior Nationals in March.<\/p>\n
