DOHA –\u00a0The Netherlands\u2019 Ranomi Kromowidjojo led the way through semis of the women\u2019s 50 free at the FINA World Short Course Championships.<\/p>\n

Kromowidjojo hit the wall in 23.43, moving to the top of the world this year. \u00a0That eclipsed the 23.55 posted by Sweden\u2019s Sarah Sjostrom at the Swedish Championships earlier this year.<\/p>\n

Kromowidjojo will have\u00a0her world record of 23.24 from 2013 in her sights during finals.<\/p>\n

USA\u2019s Madison Kennedy threw down a second-seeded time of 23.96 to move to eighth in the world this year. \u00a0She\u2019s looking for Dara Torres\u2019 2007 American record of 23.81 from the Berlin stop of the FINA World Cup.<\/p>\n

Australia\u2019s Bronte Campbell touched third in 24.01, while Germany\u2019s Dorothea Brandt placed fourth in 24.03.<\/p>\n

The Netherlands\u2019 Inge Dekker (24.08), Italy\u2019s Erika Ferraioli (24.10), Russia\u2019s Rozaliya Nasretdinova (24.12) and Bahamas\u2019 Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace (24.13) claimed the rest of the transfer spots into finals.<\/p>\n
