LOS ALAMITOS, Calif., July 23. TEAM USA goalie Genai Kerr posted the first shutout of the tournament in the men\u2019s fourth game of the FINA World League Semifinals in Los Alamitos, Calif., on Saturday. Overall, the Americans downed Brazil, 11-0, while France defeated China, 6-4 and Australia went over Canada, 13-7.<\/p>\n
Jesse Smith and Tony Azevedo led Team USA with two goals each. In quarter two, Kerr had several notable blocks including a shot from the post on a power play after Peter Hudnut was ejected. Team USA\u2019s defense held Brazil scoreless in the first half, 7-0. A stagnant third period saw a penalty drawn by Ryan Bailey and converted by Azevedo, 8-0. Kerr came through in the fourth quarter with to shutout the Brazilians, 11-0.<\/p>\n
Team USA will charge into its toughest competition of the tournament, against Australia, on July 23. Both teams are 4-0 in the FINA World League Semifinals and will qualify for the Super Finals on Athens, Greece on Aug. 2-6. The two additional matches Sunday will include Canada and China (12:00 noon), Brazil and France (1:30 p.m.).<\/p>\n
