ALBERTA, Canada, July 21. SWIMMING Canada along with Swim Alberta will host the initial Canadian Open Water Age Group Championships on July 24 at Sylvan Lake in Alberta.<\/p>\n
The 5k open water race will feature more than 75 Canadians from age 12 to 18 who will battle for the national title in their respective age group.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Canadian Age Group Open Water championships were added to our domestic calendar with the intent to offer a high level open water competition to our future Olympians\u201d CEO\/National Coach for Swimming Canada Pierre Lafontaine said. \u201cDreaming excellence is the first step towards success. Everyone was excited with the addition of the 10 km Open Water event at the Olympics and adding this new competition is just one more way to prepare our athletes.\u201d<\/p>\n
Competition will begin at the Main Pier of the Sylvan Lake Provincial Park in Sylvan Lake, Alberta, Monday morning at 11:30 a.m., for men and 11:35 a.m., for women. <\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Swim Alberta hosts its 16th-Annual Open Water Provincial Championships for Albertan\u2019s aging from 15 to 60 and over. A 3k Provincial 15 & Over Race, 2k Provincial 13 & 14 Race, 1k Provincial 12 & Under Race Distance as well as a 1k Provincial Citizen\u2019s Swim Race Distance is set to attract as many as 250 swimmers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
