OTTAWA, Ontario, Canada, July 21. SWIMMING Canada announced Thursday that Andrew Moss of Kingston, Ontario will be joining the national office staff as Club and Domestic Operations Manager. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe are thrilled to have Andrew join the Swimming Canada family and take on the role of Club and Domestic Operations Manager\u201d CEO\/National Coach for Swimming Canada Pierre Lafontaine said. \u201cAndrew will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to this new position and his versatility will be a great asset in servicing all levels of our swimming community.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Club and Domestic Operations Manager services swim clubs across Canada and develops and implements strategies for swimmer recruitment and retention and creates support services and resource development toolkits for coaches, clubs and parents. This position also will lead all aspects of the Long Term Athlete Development Strategy in regards to athlete identification, tracking and development program integration.<\/p>\n
Moss\u2019 involvement in swimming began in Kingston, Ontario with the Ernestown Barracuda Swim Club as an age group coach. He quickly moved to more senior positions as assistant head coach with the Manta Swim Club in Winnipeg, then with the Cobra Swim Club in Brampton, Ontario, and later moved on as head coach with the Richmond Aquanaut Swim Club. Five years later, Moss became assistant coach at the National Swimming Centre in Calgary where he worked with international caliber swimmers. Two years later, Moss moved to Lethbridge, Alberta, as the head coach of the University of Lethbridge Swim Team and Director of Swimming at the LA Swim Club. Currently, Moss is Program Director for Swim BC as well as Director of Operations for the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Victoria, and will coordinate the activities on the Pan Pacific Coaches Conference and BC Swim Coaches conference, prior to beginning duties in Ottawa.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile we are very disappointed to be losing such a great resource in the Swim BC office,\u201d Executive Director for Swim BC Mark Hahto said. \u201cWe wish Andrew and his family the very best in Ottawa – our loss will be an incredible gain for the National office.\u201d <\/p>\n
Moss will return to Ontario with wife Lori Melien and daughters Renee, Katrina and Danielle.<\/p>\n
