DOHA \u2013 Denmark kicked off the third night of action with a world record in the women\u2019s 200-meter medley relay at the FINA World Short Course Championships. Watch Race Video<\/a><\/p>\n

Denmark\u2019s Mie Nielsen (26.39), Rikke Moller Pedersen (29.56), Jeanette Ottesen\u00a0(24.09) and Pernille Blume (24.00) threw down a sizzling time of 1:44.04 for the win. \u00a0That lowered the previous world record of 1:45.92 set by Denmark in 2013.<\/p>\n

Team USA\u2019s Felicia Lee (26.37), Emma Reaney (29.42), Claire Donahue (25.33) and Natalie Coughlin (23.80) couldn\u2019t overcome the dominant butterfly leg by Ottesen, but still managed to take second in 1:44.92. \u00a0That\u00a0performance crushed the American record set by the U.S. in prelims of 1:46.82<\/a>.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s a huge revision of the American record in the event, considering the mark stood at 1:49.71 heading into this morning since first being set 14 years ago.<\/p>\n

France\u2019s Mathilde Cini (26.61), Charlotte Bonnet (30.29), Melanie Henique (25.20) and Anna Santamans (23.79) closed out the podium with a third-place time of 1:45.89.<\/p>\n

China (1:46.15), Italy (1:46.47), Brazil (1:46.47), Russia (1:46.50) and Japan (1:46.72) also competed in the finale.<\/p>\n
