DOHA \u2013\u00a0Brazil turned in a sprint medley relay sweep tonight with a world record in the men’s event and a near global standard in the mixed event at the FINA World Short Course Championships. Watch Race Video<\/a><\/p>\n

Felipe Silva and Nicholas Santos were part of each victory as the pair had a busy night, including Silva’s triumph in the 100 breast.<\/p>\n

Brazil managed to scare the world record in the mixed 200 medley relay, but fell just short at the FINA World Short Course Championships.<\/p>\n

The quartet of Etiene Medeiros (25.83), Felipe Silva (25.45), Nicholas Santos (21.81) and Larissa Oliveira (24.17) raced their way to a 1:37.26 for the win. \u00a0That\u2019s just off Team USA\u2019s record of 1:37.17 from last December.<\/p>\n

Great Britain\u2019s Chris Walker-Hebborn (23.42), Adam Peaty (25.89), Siobhan-Marie O\u2019Connor (25.10) and Fran Halsall (23.05) touched a close second in 1:37.46, while Italy\u2019s Niccolo Bonacchi (23.58), Fabio Scozzoli (25.55), Silvia Di Pietro (25.22) and Erika Ferraioli (23.55) placed third in 1:37.90.<\/p>\n

Team USA\u2019s MAtt Grevers (23.28), Cody Miller (25.93), Felicia Lee (25.38) and Abbey Weitzeil (23.57) just missed the podium with a fourth-place 1:38.16.<\/p>\n

Russia (1:38.93), China (1:39.17), Germany (1:39.47) and Ukraine (1:39.48) also swam in the finale.<\/p>\n
