BOISE, Idaho, June 27. KRISTIN Hill was named the new head coach of the Boise State University women\u2019s swimming and diving team on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Hill, a graduate of the University of Puget Sound and most recently an assistant coach at Texas A&M, will begin her duties immediately. Boise State women's swimming and diving will begin its initial season this fall, and will compete in the Western Athletic Conference. <\/p>\n
"I am very thankful to Gene Bleymaier and Boise State athletics for this amazing opportunity to coach the new Boise State Swimming and Diving program." Hill said. "Boise is a fantastic city, the campus is beautiful, and the athletic department is really committed to success in all areas, which is important. I am excited to return to the northwest and get this program started off on the right foot." <\/p>\n
Hill served as an assistant women's swimming coach at Texas A&M in College Station from 2000-06. During those six seasons, she worked in all aspects of coaching at the Aggie program, including recruiting, program budgeting, and coordinating team travel, as well as providing technical coaching and dry-land training. She helped the Aggies to their highest ranking of eighth this past season and an 11th place finish at the 2006 NCAA Championships. <\/p>\n
Before arriving in College Station, Hill served as the head swimming and diving coach at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colo., for three seasons (1997-2000). During the 1999-00 season, the team set 22 team records, with one swimmer earning honorable mention All-America honors. <\/p>\n
"I am very pleased that Kristin is now a Bronco," said Bleymaier. "She has the knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to begin and build the Bronco swimming and diving program. With her expertise and direction and the athletic department's commitment to excellence, I know that the program will succeed." <\/p>\n
Hill swam for the University of Puget Sound from 1990-94 where she qualified for the NAIA National Championships all four seasons and was a 25-time NAIA All-American. She graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in physical education from Puget Sound in 1994. She received her master\u2019s degree in exercise science from the University of Colorado in 1997. Hill grew up swimming in the northwest, training and competing with the Bellevue Club (Bellevue, Wash.) and Chinook Aquatic Club (Mercer Island, Wash.).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
