﻿{"id":114707,"date":"2014-11-18T20:00:59","date_gmt":"2014-11-19T03:00:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=114707"},"modified":"2014-11-18T20:02:37","modified_gmt":"2014-11-19T03:02:37","slug":"arianna-vanderpool-wallace-claims-sprint-double-central-american-caribbean-games","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/arianna-vanderpool-wallace-claims-sprint-double-central-american-caribbean-games\/","title":{"rendered":"Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace Claims Sprint Double at Central American and Caribbean Games"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Photo Courtesy: Mike Comer\/ProSwimVisuals.com<\/p>\n<p>VERACRUZ &#8211; Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace claimed a sprint double with wins in the 100 free and 100 fly at the\u00a0Central American and Caribbean Games swimming on Tuesday night. \u00a0This came after Monday night&#8217;s finals were cancelled due to severe winds, that led to the events being spread out the rest of the week in Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>Vanderpool-Wallace raced her way to a meet record in the women&#8217;s 100-meter free with a 54.87 for the victory. \u00a0That&#8217;s better than the 55.00 set by Vanessa Garcia back in 2010 for Puerto Rico. \u00a0Mexico&#8217;s Liliana Ibanez took second in 56.18 with Garcia placing third in 56.70.<\/p>\n<p>Vanderpool-Wallace doubled up with a 1:00.17 in the women&#8217;s 100-meter fly, while Colombia&#8217;s Jessica Camposano (1:00.64) and Carolina Colorado (1:00.97) also put up 1:00s for the top three.<\/p>\n<p>Mexico&#8217;s Byanca Melissa Rodriguez downed a meet record in the women&#8217;s 200-meter breast with a 2:29.37. \u00a0That lowered Alia Atkinson&#8217;s 2010 mark of 2:30.99. \u00a0Mexico went 1-2 tonight with Esther Gonzalez touching second in 2:32.62, while Venezuela&#8217;s Mercedes Toledo placed third in 2:32.95.<\/p>\n<p>Colombia&#8217;s Mateo De Angulo cleared the meet record in the men&#8217;s 400-meter free with a 3:53.20, while El Salvador&#8217;s Marcelo Acosta also beat the previous mark with a second-place 3:53.39. \u00a0Cristian Quintero owned the old record with a 3:55.19 from 2010. \u00a0Tonight, Quintero took third in 3:55.22.<\/p>\n<p>Venezuela&#8217;s Andreina Pinto won her third title of the meet with a 4:48.80 meet record in the women&#8217;s 400-meter IM. \u00a0That went with her victories in the 200 and 400 frees. The swim lowered Charetzeri Escobar&#8217;s mark of 4:50.03 from 2010. \u00a0Mexico&#8217;s Natalia Jaspeado (4:53.81) and Maria Jimenez (5:01.16) rounded out the top three.<\/p>\n<p>Venezuela&#8217;s Albert Subirats won the men&#8217;s 50-meter fly in 24.01 with Guatemala&#8217;s Luis Carlos Martinez taking second in 24.31. Suriname&#8217;s Renzo Tjon-a-Joe earned third in 24.56.<\/p>\n<p>Colombia&#8217;s Omar Pinzon (2:00.95) and David Cespedes (2:03.85) made it a 1-2 for their country in the men&#8217;s 200-meter back. \u00a0Puerto Rico&#8217;s Yeziel Morales placed third in 2:03.86.<\/p>\n<p>Colombia&#8217;s Jorge Mario Murillo captured the men&#8217;s 50-meter breast crown in 28.12 with Panama&#8217;s Edgar Crespo touching second in 28.35. \u00a0Miguel De Lara wound up third in 28.46.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/info.veracruz2014.mx\/info\/eng\/zz\/engzz_swimming_sport_overview.htm\"
