By Morgan Pestorius, Swimming World College Intern<\/em><\/p>\nEWING TOWNSHIP – The New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) swimming teams are looking at a busy weekend ahead of them, with dual meets for William Paterson and Rowan, and invitational meets for The College of New Jersey, Montclair and Ramapo.<\/p>\n
LOOKING BACK<\/h2>\n
Last Tuesday, the women of William Paterson University lost to Hunter College. On Thursday, the men swam against SUNY Cobleskill and registered a win. This past weekend, the men\u2019s and women\u2019s team of The College of New Jersey suffered a loss to New York University. The men and women of Ramapo College won\u00a0against the University of Scranton on Saturday. Rowan had a close meet that ended in their favor on Saturday, against Swarthmore College.<\/p>\n
THE COLLEGE OF NEW JERSEY<\/h2>\n
Summer Thomas, senior and captain of the women\u2019s team, will continue to be a threat in mid-distance freestyle and IM events. Marta Lawler (freshman) is sure to succeed in breaststroke events; she holds the third-fastest 200 time in the conference (2:36.12). Brenna Strollo has\u00a0maintained success in backstroke events in her second year at TCNJ.<\/p>\n
Joseph Dunn holds the fastest time for the 50-yard freestyle in the NJAC (21.01). James Shangle (junior) will continue to support his team with strong performances in breaststroke and IM events. Sophomore Andrew Nesbitt has been an important asset to the team in mid-distance freestyle and breaststroke events this season.<\/p>\n
MONTCLAIR STATE UNIVERSITY<\/h2>\n
Junior Sydney Stein has shown that she can lead the team in the 500-yard freestyle (5:23.47) and 1000-yard freestyle (11:07.88). Senior Christine Werner will be a threat in IM and breaststroke events; she holds the third-fastest time in the conference for the 100 breast (1:11.30). This season, Katherine LaCava has swam the 100-yard butterfly in 1:02.95 and the 200-yard butterfly in 2:17.66.<\/p>\n
Freshman divers, Samuel Mitchell and Greg Bauwens are high scorers for their team this season. Devon D\u2019Agosta (freshman) looks to have a successful college career ahead of him in IM and backstroke events. Spectators should also look out for sophomore Nicandro Donadio in IM and breaststroke events; Donadio\u2019s season best for the 100-yard breast is 1:03.67 and 2:23.18 in his 200-yard breaststroke.<\/p>\n
RAMAPO COLLEGE<\/h2>\n
Margaret Herbert (freshman) has the first fastest time in the conference for the 50 free (24.77) and is second fastest in the 100 free (55.34). Julia Housel (freshman) is a valuable swimmer in backstroke events. Senior Jamie Stein leads her team in the butterfly events.<\/p>\n
Sophomore RJ Carillo is scoring high in breaststroke and IM events this season. Andrew Ramos is proving his worth in freestyle and backstroke events during his first season with the Roadrunners. Dan Drozdzewicz\u2019s (sophomore) season best for the 200-yard butterfly is 2:12.62, and he also participates in freestyle events.<\/p>\n
ROWAN UNIVERSITY<\/h2>\n
Olivia Wojtowicz (junior) is a well-rounded swimmer, putting up top times in freestyle, breaststroke and IM events. Junior Victoria Grimsgaard\u2019s top times this season in sprint freestyle events are 24.91 seconds in the 50 and 55.30 seconds in the 100. Junior Olivia Graham is someone to look out for in distance events.<\/p>\n
Junior Tyler Coe currently is ranked second in the conference for the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 58.91. Jesse Novak (sophomore) remains a threat in sprint freestyle events. Freshman Colin Fisher will continue to excel in mid-distance freestyle events.<\/p>\n
WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY<\/h2>\n
Senior Sheri Brino has led\u00a0her team to success in distance free and backstroke events. Diver Courtney Lawler (sophomore) is showing a lot of potential so far this season. Junior Brittany English\u2019s season best in the 100-yard freestyle is 58.96 seconds, she also swims backstroke.<\/p>\n
Anthony Taboadela (freshman) has the ninth-fastest time in the conference for the 200-yard IM (2:03.31). Sophomore Jeremy Oiler will remain a threat in distance freestyle events. Junior Gennaro Sirianni is an impressive diver that is a high-scorer for his team.<\/p>\n

NJAC SWIMMER OF THE WEEK<\/h2>\n
For the women, senior Lauren Keller (Ramapo) was named swimmer of the week for her performance against Scranton this weekend. Keller won the 100-yard freestyle in 53.83 seconds, this time is the fastest time for the event in the NJAC this season. Keller also won the 200 free (1:59.74) and was a part of the winning 200-yard medley relay and 400-yard freestyle relay.<\/p>\n
Andrew Nesbitt (TCNJ) is the swimmer of the week for the men. Against NYU, Nesbitt placed first in the 200 free with a time of 1:43.90 and third in the 100 free. He also contributed to his relay team\u2019s win in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:09.61). Currently, Nesbitt has the fastest time in the conference for the 200 freestyle.<\/p>\n
Morgan Pestorius is in her second year at TCNJ.
