FAIRFIELD – Fairfield swimming raced to a pair of wins against Pace at the RecPlex Pool.<\/p>\n
The Fairfield University women\u2019s swimming & diving defeated Pace University this afternoon at the RecPlex Pool. The women posted a 149-89 victory over the Setters.<\/p>\n
Rookie Sierra Weiner (Centerport, N.Y.) posted two individual victories. Weiner captured the 200m IM 2:27.60, for a personal best. She also posted a winning time of 4:33.82 in the 400m freestyle event.<\/p>\n
Junior Meredith LaBerge (Newtown, Pa.) captured the 800m freestyle with a personal best time of 9:27.86. Kate Ansani (Bannockburn, Ill.) and Katherine Kraus (Glendale, N.Y.) also posted personal best times of 9:51.26 and 10:02.81 on the event, to place fourth and fifth.<\/p>\n
Sophomore Meghan Guinee (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) posted a personal best time of 1:10.72 in the 100 butterfly to finish second while classmate Ashley Boyle (Cranberry, N.J.) placed second in the 100m freestyle event with a personal best 1:04.90.<\/p>\n
In the 400m medley relay, the team of Weiner, Callie Vacchiano (Huntington, N.Y.), Kelly Mulligan (Bellerose, N.Y.), and Liz Avery (Hampden, Mass.) clocked a time of 4:42.80 to finish first. The 400m freestyle relay of Avery, Michelle Pleban (Seymour, Conn.), Mulligan, and Weiner earned first place points with a time of 4:08.49.<\/p>\n
Fairfield took the top three spots in both the women\u2019s 1-meter and 3-meter diving. Senior Ashlee Steinberger (Haddonfield, N.J.) captured the 1-meter event with a 224.70 and the 3-meter event with a score of 229.65. Sophomore Leah Pawelczyk (Berlin, Conn.) was the runner-up on both boards with a personal best 1-meter 190.88 and a personal best 3-meter 205.88. Classmate Caroline Gailius (Milton, Mass.) placed third on both boards, with a 1-meter mark of 186.53 and a 3-meter 179.25.<\/p>\n
The Fairfield women\u2019s (3-2; 1-1 MAAC) team will close out their fall 2014 campaign this upcoming weekend. The team will travel to Boston, Mass. to compete in the Terrier Invitational on November 20-22.<\/p>\n

Daly posted two individual victories and broke one program record. Daly captured the 100m backstroke with a time of 59.98, breaking the previous program record of 1:01.55 set by Rob Willhoit on October 30, 2004. He also posted a winning time of 1:07.84 in the 100m breaststroke, for a personal best, and placed third in the 50m freestyle with a time of 25.61.<\/p>\n
Junior Andrew Robinson (Warwick, R.I.) and senior Jay Cook (Lynnfield, Mass.) captured two individual victories apiece. Robinson captured the 200m freestyle with a time of 2:03.18 and posted a win in the 400m freestyle event with a personal best time of 4:20.08. Cook captured the 50m and 100m freestyle events. Cook clocked a 50m time of 25.23 and a 100m time of 55.74.<\/p>\n
Sophomore Scott McGinty (Reading, Mass.) and rookie Jameson Duncan (Stamford, Conn.) each posted an individual win. McGinty captured the 100m butterfly when he recorded a 1:01.41 while Duncan captured the 800m freestyle when he clocked a 9:12.27, for a personal best.<\/p>\n
In the 400m medley relay, the team of Duncan, Daly, McGinty, and Cook clocked a time of 4:09.07 to finish first. The 400m freestyle relay of Robinson, Cook, McGinty, and Andrew Tavcar (Queens Village, N.Y.) earned first place points with a time of 3:48.80.<\/p>\n

Barr captured the 1-meter event with a 265.35 while Pires placed third with a 247.95. Will Sullivan (East Kingston, N.H.) placed third on the 3-meter event, posting a 198.75, and fourth on the 1-meter event, recording a 211.95. Rookie Benjamin Martin (Quincy, Mass.) recorded a score of 162.90 on the 3-meter, for a personal best, and made a 142.88 1-meter mark.<\/p>\n

The Pace University women’s swimming and diving team won five individual events, but the Setters were upended by the Fairfield Stags 144-94 on Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n
Alexis Chocianowski led the way for the Setters with a pair of first place finishes, touching first in both the 50 meter freestyle and the 100 backstroke with times of 28.88 and 1:10.93 respectively. Samantha Dexter finished first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:10.39 and claimed a second place finish in the 50 free with her 29.20 clocking.<\/p>\n
Colleen Carroll also turned in a first place time for Pace with a 1:20.02 in the 100 breaststroke. Katie Loughlin earned the final two victories of the day for Pace with a times of 1:02.39 and 2:12.91 in the 100 and 200 freestyle events respectively.<\/p>\n
The Setters jump back into the pool next Saturday, November 22, when they head to Glassboro, NJ to take on Rowan at 2:00 pm.<\/p>\n
Freshman Brian Sosa won the 200-SC meter IM but the Setters fell to the Fairfield Stags 156.5-54.5 in dual meet action.<\/p>\n
Sosa took first place with a time of 2:15.18 and came in second place in the 100 SC-meter backstroke with a time of 1:00.89. Freshman Robert O’Gorman posted a pair of second place finishes with a 4:20.94 in the 400-free and a 2:03.48 in the 200-free.<\/p>\n
Dominick Mignano place second in two races as well in the 50-free and 100-breaststroke. In the 50-free, he posted a time of 25.46 and in the 100-breast he swam a 1:11.33<\/p>\n
The Setters return to action as they face Rowan in a road dual meet on Saturday, November 22 at 2 pm.<\/p>\n
