COLLEGEVILLE – Ursinus swimming swept McDaniel College in a Centennial Conference matchup.<\/p>\n
Ursinus senior Chelsea Kozior lead the Ursinus Women’s swim team to their fourth consecutive victory, with a comfortable 120-79 victory over McDaniel at home, Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n
Kozior captured 24 points with two first place finishes in the 400 medley relay and the 200 yard freestyle and a second place finish in the 500 yard freestyle.<\/p>\n
Meggie Leitz, Olivia Tierney, Katherine Porter and Kozior set the tone early taking first place in the 400 yard medley relay with a time of 4:07.30.<\/p>\n
In the 1000 yard freestyle, Sydney Gunderson ran away with first place by almost thirty seconds, clocking in at 11:00.90. Following in second place Amanda Lucock finished at 11:29.88.<\/p>\n
Kozior again took first place in the 200 yard freestyle finishing at 1:59.95 and Katie Pielmeier followed in second place with a time of 2:03.39.<\/p>\n
Ursinus again took the top two spots in the fifty yard freestyle with Corinne Capodanno in first at 24.81 and Alli Hemp a second behind her 25.52.<\/p>\n
Tierney took the top spot in the 200 yard IM at 2:16.02.<\/p>\n
Pielmeier and Rebecca Schroll took first and third place respectively, with times of 2:15.13 and 2:20.89 in the 200 yard butterfly.<\/p>\n
In the 100 yard freestyle Gunderson placed in first with a time 54.90 while Hemp finished behind in third with a time of 57.19.<\/p>\n
For the 200 yard backstroke Leitz finished in first a 2:16.83 while Rachel Weil finished in third with a time of 2:22.35.<\/p>\n
Ursinus swept the top three in the 500 yard freestyle with Capodanno, Kozior and Tierney all finishing in order.<\/p>\n
The Ursinus men’s swim team hosted McDaniel and came away with the victory, cruising over the Green Terror 109-90 Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n
William Benn lead the Bears, contributing 17 points on the afternoon, placing in three events.<\/p>\n
Opening the meet in the 400 yard medley relay, William Benn, Keith Larkin, Chris Hoops and Benjamin Jumping placed second with a time of 3:48.93, capturing four points.<\/p>\n
In the 1000 yard freestyle Marcus Wagner placed in second with a time of 10:03.60, with Chris Barthold and Henry Nonack placed in third and fourth respectively.<\/p>\n
For the 200 yard freestyle the Bears swept the top three with Joe Gershun taking first with a time of 1:49.52, Dylan Cooper taking second at 1:52.97 and Benn seconds behind at 1:54.31.<\/p>\n
Colin McNamara took second place in the 50 freestyle with a time 23:05 and Nick Dipalo followed by three tenths of a second for third place.<\/p>\n
Ursinus took second, third and fourth place in the 200 yard IM with Jacob Robinson in second at 2:05.40 and Barthold and Larkin following.<\/p>\n
In the 200 yard butterfly Hoops won first place by a slim margin with a time of 1:59.70. Alec Heckman also finished in third place with a time 2:06.59.<\/p>\n
For the 100 yard freestyle the Bears took first and third with Jumper in at 49:79 and Joao Angelotto at 51.01.<\/p>\n
Benn captured first place in the 200 yard backstroke at 2:00.92 followed by James Marrone and Nonack in second and third place respectively.<\/p>\n
In the 500 yard freestyle Wagner, Gershun and Cooper finished in second, third and fourth capturing seven points.<\/p>\n
Larkin, Robinson, and Barthold also finished in second third and fourth place in the 200 yard breaststroke for the Bears.<\/p>\n
Ursinus will dive back into competition next Saturday afternoon at Centennial Conference favorite Gettysburg.<\/p>\n

Kelly Lewis (Montgomery Village, Md.\/Watkins Mill) led the Green Terror (0-4, 0-3 CC) with a victory in the 200 breaststroke, finishing in a time of 2:34.70.<\/p>\n
Sydney Gundersen led the Bears (4-0, 2-0 CC) with two individual victories, touching first in the 1000 free (11:00.90) and 100 free (54.90 seconds). She was one of five Ursinus swimmers to win twice on the day.<\/p>\n
In addition to Lewis’ victory, McDaniel’s 400 free relay of Samantha Smith (APO, AP, Thailand\/International School of Bangkok), Becca Sykes (Collegeville, Pa.\/Methacton), Maddie Gamble (Colora, Md.\/Rising Sun and Meg Protzman (Elkridge, Md.\/Mount de Sales) won with a time of 3:53.53.<\/p>\n
Lexie Jacobs (Forest Hill, Md.\/North Harford) finished second in both the 200 IM (2:19.0) and 200 butterfly (2:18.91), turning in the sixth-ranked time in program history.<\/p>\n
Syd Knadler (Crowley Lake, Calif.\/Mammoth) was second in the 100 free (55.86 seconds) while Cara Dube (Milford, Conn.\/Joseph A. Foran) touched second in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:17.93, which ranks seventh all-time.<\/p>\n
Gamble added a third-place finish in the 1000 free, finishing in a time of 11:41.28 to break into the all-time top 10.<\/p>\n
The Green Terror returns to action at St. Mary’s (Md.) on Saturday. Meet time is 1 p.m.<\/p>\n

Justin Allen (Ashburn, Va.\/Broad Run) led the Green Terror (0-3, 0-3 CC) with three victories, including touching first in the 200 IM (2:04.85) and 200 breaststroke (2:18.71). He was also part of the 400 medley relay with Logan Linden (Millville, Del.\/Indian River), Stevie Hoyt (Glastonbury, Conn.\/Glastonbury) and Adam Halmy that opened the meet with a win in a time of 3:43.03, which ranks fifth all-time.<\/p>\n
Four different swimmers won individual events for the Bears (4-0, 2-0 CC), including victory by William Benn in the 200 back (2:00.92).<\/p>\n
Brad Brooks (Newark, Del.\/Charter School of Wilmington) added individual wins in the 1000 free (9:55.60) and 500 free (4:51.14) while also finishing second in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:59.90, just 0.20 seconds behind Chris Hoops’ winning time for Urisnus.<\/p>\n
Hoyt added a second win, touching first in the 50 free with a time of 22.52 seconds. Hoyt was also second in the 100 free (49.97).<\/p>\n
Brandon Bond (Hebron, Md.\/Mardela), Brian Austin (Turlock, Calif.\/J.H. Pitman), Garrett Merlino (Gaithersburg, Md.\/Damascus) and Brandon Loehmer (Shrewsbury, Pa.\/Susquehannock) closed the meet with a win in the 400 free relay (3:44.14).<\/p>\n
