SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., April 22. LOWELL High School accomplished a team title sweep at the AAA San Francisco High School Swimming Championships held in San Francisco, Calif., April 21-22. The Lowell boys team amassed 122 points, while Washington took second with 80 points. Meanwhile, Lincoln placed third with 59 points, while Balboa came in fourth with 21 points.<\/p>\n
On the girls side of the meet, Lowell snagged 111 points, with Lincoln coming in second with 75 points. Washington took third with 72 points, while Wallenberg placed fourth with 20 points. Balboa rounded out the meet with 16 points.<\/p>\n
Girls 200-yard medley relay<\/b><\/p>\n
Lowell began its run at the San Francisco title with a big win as Tracy Tang, Amanda Chau, Chirstina Loo and Lisa Flynn touched in 2:04.46 ahead of Washington\u2019s contingent of Heidi Tieu, Chelsea Huang, Polly Lo-Esteves and Noel Fong\u2019s time of 2:04.87. Meanwhile, Lincoln\u2019s team of Roselin Sretpisalsilp, Wendy Dang, Amanda Chui and Pearl Lo finished third in 2:11.71.<\/p>\n
After opening with a four-second lead after the first 25 yards, Lowell witnessed its advantage evaporate behind a hard-charging Huang. Lo-Esteves then stretched the Washington lead to two seconds before Lowell\u2019s Flynn countered with a run of her own to race past Fong.<\/p>\n
Boys 200-yard medley relay<\/b><\/p>\n
Lowell\u2019s young men matched its ladies as the team of Alden Chan, James Bautista, Allen Du and Christopher Lee notched a 1:49.16 for gold. Cross-town rival Washington rang up second-place honors as Clive Fan, Jared Loey, Justin Fong and Kevin Chu touched in 1:49.78. Meanwhile, Lincoln\u2019s quartet of Greg Jew, Chao Zhou, Jordan Yee and Wai-Kei Chow placed third in a distant 1:56.39.<\/p>\n
After posting nearly a four-second lead at the halfway point, Lowell almost watched its advantage disappear as Washington attempted a comeback. Unfortunately for Washington, it came up just short.<\/p>\n
Girls 200-yard freestyle<\/b><\/p>\n
Lowell snared a top-two sweep in the 200 free as Tang obliterated the field with a 2:07.35. Her teammate Leslie Cheung touched second in 2:18.33, while Lincoln\u2019s Dang took third in 2:19.19.<\/p>\n
Boys 200-yard freestyle<\/b> <\/p>\n
Lowell grabbed another top-two sweep in the boys 200 free as senior Garlen Yu cruised to a wire-to-wire title-winning time of 1:55.31 in front of teammate Gabriel Yip\u2019s 2:00.10. Lincoln senior Brian Cheung rounded out the top three with a 2:03.61.<\/p>\n
Girls 200-yard IM<\/b><\/p>\n
Lincoln\u2019s fabulous freshman Sretpisalsilp broke Lowell\u2019s title-winning streak in a dramatic conquest of the 200 IM. The Lincoln swimmer touched out Lowell\u2019s Amanda Chau, 2:25.17 to 2:25.22. Meanwhile, Lowell sophomore Vivien Chau placed third in 2:46.30.<\/p>\n
Boys 200-yard IM<\/b><\/p>\n
Washington senior Justin Fong never trailed en route to a 200-yard IM winning time of 2:11.08, while Lowell\u2019s Bautista clocked a second-place 2:16.75. Meanwhile, Lincoln\u2019s Jordan Yee snared third in 2:18.82.<\/p>\n
Girls 50-yard freestyle<\/b><\/p>\n
Washington\u2019s Huang picked up the first meet record of the evening with a 24.88 in the 50 free. The effort also made her San Francisco\u2019s first sub-25 girl in the meet\u2019s history. Additionally, the performance erased Washington\u2019s Josefa Carlin\u2019s six-year-old standard of 25.01.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Lowell\u2019s Flynn took second in 26.64, while Wallenberg senior Hannie Kim snared third in 28.04.<\/p>\n
Boys 50-yard freestyle<\/b><\/p>\n
Washington\u2019s Loey recorded the only sub 24-second time in the heat as the senior raced to a title-winning 23.92. Meanwhile, Lowell sophomore Henry Szeto took second in 24.76 to touch out Lincoln\u2019s Wai-Kei Chow (24.79).<\/p>\n
Girls 100-yard butterfly<\/b><\/p>\n
Washington\u2019s Lo-Esteves destroyed her competition in the 100 fly with a 1:06.47 to claim a five-second triumph over second-place teammate Tieu (1:11.39). Lowell\u2019s Loo rounded out the top three in 1:13.42.<\/p>\n
Boys 100-yard butterfly<\/b><\/p>\n
Washington\u2019s Justin Fong snapped the second meet record of the evening with a 55.29 in the 100 fly. His time wiped out the 55.60 registered by Lowell\u2019s Joshua Hall in 2003. Meanwhile, Lincoln\u2019s Jew picked up silver in 58.49, while Lowell\u2019s Du rounded out the top three in 1:00.54.<\/p>\n

Washington\u2019s Huang garnered her second title of the meet with a 54.22 in the 100 free. Additionally, Lowell\u2019s Flynn came in second with a 57.54, while Wallenberg\u2019s Kim earned third in 1:02.78.<\/p>\n

Lowell\u2019s Chan never trailed in his 100 free win with a time of 51.33. Meanwhile, Washington\u2019s Loey placed second in 52.93, while Lowell\u2019s Szeto took third in 54.27.<\/p>\n
Girls 500-yard freestyle<\/b><\/p>\n
Lincoln\u2019s Dang grabbed her school\u2019s second title with a 6:14.64 in the 500 free. After racing out to a large lead, Dang held off a quick-closing Yee (6:16.27) of Lowell. Meanwhile, Lincoln\u2019s Chui placed third in 6:20.41.<\/p>\n
Boys 500-yard freestyle<\/b><\/p>\n
Lowell\u2019s Yu pounced on his second meet title with another dominant win, this time in the 500 free with a 5:15.82. Meanwhile, Balboa sophomore Leon Truong clocked a second-place 5:34.72, while Washington\u2019s Fan touched third in 5:39.49.<\/p>\n
Girls 200-yard freestyle relay<\/b><\/p>\n
Lowell captured its third relay triumph as Tang, Chau, Loo and Flynn clocked a first-place time of 1:49.26. Meanwhile, Washington\u2019s team of Lo-Esteves, Tieu, Huang and Fong took second in 1:51.83, while Lincoln\u2019s quartet of Brittany Dea, Rosa Cho, Alicia Li and Erin Chui finished a distant third in 2:06.05. <\/p>\n
Boys 200-yard freestyle relay<\/b><\/p>\n
Lowell continued to munch on relay titles as Chan, Szeto, Lee and Yu broke the meet standard in the 200 freestyle relay with a 1:35.71. The effort removed Lowell\u2019s former meet record of 1:36.43 set in 2002.<\/p>\n
Lincoln\u2019s contingent of Lee, Jonathan Chan, Brian Cheung and Wai-Kei Chow never threatened with a second-place 1:47.17, while Washington\u2019s quartet of Kevin Kwong, Randy Leung, Jonathan Cheng and Edmund Ho placed third in 1:50.70.<\/p>\n
Girls 100-yard backstroke<\/b><\/p>\n
Lincoln\u2019s Sretpisalsilp picked up her second title with a wire-to-wire time of 1:04.94 in the 100 back, while Lowell\u2019s Tang placed second in 1:05.32. Tang\u2019s teammate Emily Shaw closed the top three with a 1:12.18.<\/p>\n
Boys 100-yard backstroke<\/b><\/p>\n
Lowell\u2019s Chan acquired his fourth title of the meet with a 57.66 in the 100 back. Meanwhile, Lincoln\u2019s Jew placed second in 1:01.18, while Washington\u2019s Chu took third in 1:04.73.<\/p>\n
Girls 100-yard breaststroke<\/b><\/p>\n
Lowell\u2019s Chau claimed her third crown with a comeback win in the 100 breast. After trailing by nearly half a second, she rolled past teammate Loo to win in 1:15.51, while her teammate touched in 1:16.05 for silver. Meanwhile, Washington\u2019s Tieu snared third in 1:18.07.<\/p>\n
Boys 100-yard breaststroke<\/b><\/p>\n
Lowell swept the top-two spots in the 100 breast as Bautista raced to first in 1:07.14, while Lee posted a second-place 1:08.09. Meanwhile, Lincoln\u2019s Chao Zhou finished third in 1:09.99.<\/p>\n
Girls 400-yard freestyle relay<\/b><\/p>\n
Lincoln broke up the relay party for Lowell as Lincoln\u2019s team of Chui, Lo, Dang and Sretpisalsilp came from nearly six seconds down to capture the 400 free relay title in 4:15.10. Meanwhile, Lowell\u2019s contingent of Stephanie Yew, Rafaella Okun, Shay and Leslie Cheung placed second in 4:21.30. Additionally, Washington\u2019s team of Lo-Esteves, Doris Kwan, Mabel So and Suzanne Wong finished third in 4:38.29.<\/p>\n

Washington matched the Lincoln girls effort to withhold a relay sweep for Lowell by rolling to a meet-record time of 3:31.53. The Washington quartet of Fong, Kevin Chu, Fan and Loey expunged Lowell\u2019s previous meet-record time of 3:34.98 set in 2000.
