BRIDGEPORT\u00a0–\u00a0The\u00a0University of California-Los Angeles,\u00a0Whittier College\u00a0and\u00a0Princeton University\u00a0remain on top of the 2014 Men’s Varsity Week 10\/November 12 National Top 20, Division III Top 10 and Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Top 10 Polls.<\/p>\n

UCLA retains the No. 1 position in the National Top 20 Poll as the Bruins picked up 99 points, falling one point shy of maintaining its prior position as a unanimous top selection. Overall, the Top Seven positions in the poll remain unchanged as\u00a0Stanford University<\/strong>, the\u00a0University of Southern California<\/strong>,\u00a0Long Beach State University<\/strong>, the\u00a0University of California<\/strong>, the\u00a0University of California-San Diego<\/strong>\u00a0and the\u00a0University of the Pacific<\/strong>\u00a0hang onto their rankings for another week.<\/p>\n

Whittier remains the top pick in the Division III ranks as the Poets garnered 100 points to become the unanimous top pick in a Division III Top 10 Poll which underwent major changes for the fourth week in a row.<\/p>\n

In the wake of the league’s Northern and Southern Division Championships, the CWPA Top 10 also experiences minor changes as the Tigers of Princeton continue to top the rankings as the unanimous choice of the pollsters.\u00a0Brown University<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Bucknell University<\/strong>\u00a0stay at No. 2 and 3, respectively, but a Third Place finish by\u00a0Harvard University<\/strong>\u00a0at the Northern Division Championship causes a shockwave shift in the remainder of the Top 10.<\/p>\n

Voted on by a panel of coaches from the CWPA, Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the polls are compiled and released\u00a0on Wednesday<\/span><\/span>\u00a0during each week of the season through the week following the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship.<\/p>\n

2014 Men’s Varsity National Top 20 (Week 10)

The\u00a0University of California-Los Angeles<\/strong>\u00a0remains the No. 1 team in the country as the Bruins pick up 99 points to lose its position as a unanimous top pick in the Week 10\/November 12 National Top 20 Poll.<\/p>\n

UCLA, which returned to the No. 1 spot two weeks ago, is followed by\u00a0Stanford University<\/strong>\u00a0(95 points), the\u00a0University of Southern California<\/strong>\u00a0(91 points),\u00a0Long Beach State University<\/strong>\u00a0(84 points), the\u00a0University of California<\/strong>\u00a0(81 points), the\u00a0University of California-San Diego<\/strong>\u00a0(75 points) and the the\u00a0University of the Pacific<\/strong>\u00a0(70 points) as the first seven positions in the poll remain unchanged from the Week 9\/November 5 voting.<\/p>\n

The Top 10 does experience a minor change in the final three positions as\u00a0Princeton University<\/strong>\u00a0(62 points) and\u00a0Pepperdine University<\/strong>\u00a0(60 points) both bump up one position to take over at No. 8 and 9, respectively, to drop the\u00a0University of California-Santa Barbara<\/strong>\u00a0(53 points) down to No. 10.<\/p>\n

\n

Brown University<\/strong>\u00a0(51 points) inches closer to a Top 10 rating as the Bears hold on at No. 11 for another week.\u00a0 The\u00a0University of California-Irvine<\/strong>\u00a0(50 points) breaks out of a tie with\u00a0Bucknell University<\/strong>\u00a0(42 points) at No. 12 as the Anteaters claim sole possession of the spot and the Bison slip back to No. 13.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0University of California-Davis<\/strong>\u00a0(35 points), the\u00a0United States Air Force Academy<\/strong>\u00a0(28 points) and\u00a0Loyola Marymount University<\/strong>\u00a0(22 points) stay at No. 14-to-16, with\u00a0Santa Clara University<\/strong>\u00a0(17 points) inching up to take over at No. 17.<\/p>\n

Harvard University<\/strong>\u00a0(16 points),\u00a0St. Francis College Brooklyn<\/strong>\u00a0(13 points) and\u00a0Whittier College<\/strong>\u00a0(6 points) complete the Top 20, with the United States Naval Academy (4 points) and\u00a0California Baptist University<\/strong>\u00a0(2 points) also receiving votes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

2014 Men’s Varsity Division III Top 10 (Week 10)

\"\"The Poets of\u00a0Whittier College<\/strong>\u00a0(100 points), which are ranked at No. 20 in the National Top 20 Poll, remain at No. 1 in the Week 10\/November 12 National Division III Top 10 Poll.<\/p>\n

Unlike the National Top 20 Poll which experienced minor changes, the Division III rankings are scrambled this week with only four of the teams retaining their ranking from a week ago.<\/p>\n

\n

Behind the Poets,\u00a0Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges<\/strong>\u00a0(90 points) rises one position to take over at No. 2.\u00a0\u00a0Johns Hopkins University<\/strong>\u00a0(83 points) joins CMS in moving up as the Blue Jays flutter two spots to No. 3 after rating at No. 5 in the November 5 poll.<\/p>\n

Chapman University<\/strong>\u00a0(80 points), which ranked at No. 2 last week, moves into a tie with the\u00a0Massachusetts Institute of Technology<\/strong>\u00a0(80 points) at No. 4, while the\u00a0University of Redlands<\/strong>\u00a0(77 points) ascends to No. 6 after claiming the No. 8 spot last week.<\/p>\n

Pomona-Pitzer Colleges<\/strong>\u00a0(75 points),\u00a0California Lutheran University<\/strong>\u00a0(65 points), the\u00a0University of La Verne<\/strong>\u00a0(60 points) and\u00a0Washington & Jefferson College<\/strong>\u00a0(38 points) complete the Top 10, with\u00a0Connecticut College<\/strong>\u00a0(27 points) also receiving votes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The Tigers of\u00a0Princeton University<\/strong>\u00a0continue as the top rated team in the league as the squad picked up 100 points in the Week 10\/November 12 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Top 10 Poll.<\/p>\n

Princeton, which finished claimed the league’s Southern Division Championship over the weekend and has been ranked at No. 1 since the Preseason balloting, tops a league poll which experienced some minor changes this week in the wake of the Northern and Southern Division tournaments.<\/p>\n

\n

Northern Division champion\u00a0Brown University<\/strong>\u00a0(95 points) stays in striking distance of the Tigers as the Bears continue at No. 2 for the fourth consecutive week.<\/p>\n

\n

Southern Division runner-up\u00a0Bucknell University<\/strong>\u00a0(89 points) hangs on at No. 3, while\u00a0Harvard University<\/strong>\u00a0(84 points) moves up to No. 4 thanks to a runner-up finish at the Northern Division Championship.\u00a0St. Francis College Brooklyn<\/strong>\u00a0(78 points), the league’s 2012 and 2013 champion, slips to No. 5 after finishing Third at the Northern Division Championship.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0United States Naval Academy<\/strong>\u00a0(77 points) and\u00a0Johns Hopkins University<\/strong>\u00a0(70 points) stay at No. 6 and 7, respectively, as the pair placed Third and Fourth at the Southern Division Championship.\u00a0 The\u00a0Massachusetts Institute of Technology<\/strong>\u00a0(58 points), which placed Fifth at the Northern Division Championship, moves up to No. 8, with\u00a0George Washington University<\/strong>(52 points) and\u00a0Fordham University<\/strong>\u00a0(39 points) completing the Top 10 after registering Fifth and Fourth place marks at the Southern and Northern Division Championships.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n
