{"id":113986,"date":"2014-11-09T11:20:43","date_gmt":"2014-11-09T18:20:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=113986"},"modified":"2014-11-09T11:20:43","modified_gmt":"2014-11-09T18:20:43","slug":"moniek-nijhuis-moves-third-world-100-breast-near-dutch-record","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/moniek-nijhuis-moves-third-world-100-breast-near-dutch-record\/","title":{"rendered":"Moniek Nijhuis Moves To Third in World in 100 Breast With Near Dutch Record"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TILBURG &#8211; Moniek Nijhuis raced her way to a near-Dutch record with a 1:04.66 in the women&#8217;s 100-meter breast during the final night of the Dutch Short Course Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Nijhuis&#8217;\u00a0swim moved her to third in the world rankings behind only Alia Atkinson (1:02.54) and Ruta Meilutyte (1:03.05). \u00a0She leapfrogged Breeja Larson (1:04.85) in the process.<\/p>\n<p>That effort just missed Nijhuis&#8217; Dutch mark of 1:04.56 from the Berlin stop of the 2009 FINA World Cup as she continues to try to track down her techsuit-fueled records.<\/p>\n<p>Anouk Elzerman (1:07.35) and Lia Dekker (1:07.87) finished second and third.<\/p>\n<p>Femke Heemskerk continued her solid meet with a meet-record 2:03.51 in the women&#8217;s 200-meter back. \u00a0That swim vaulted her to fifth in the world rankings. \u00a0Wendy van der Zanden took second in 2:08.69 with Robin Neumann snaring third in 2:11.26.<\/p>\n<p>Inge Dekker blasted the field in the women&#8217;s 50-meter free with a 24.29 for the win. It wasn&#8217;t the same speed as her fourth-ranked season best of 23.89 from the Tokyo stop of the FINA World Cup, but was good enough for the win here. \u00a0Maud van der Meer (24.81) and Tamara van Vliet (24.92) placed second and third.<\/p>\n<p>Dekker doubled up with a 25.27 to win the women&#8217;s 50-meter fly. \u00a0That swim is well off her top-ranked 24.59 from the Dubai stop of the FINA World cup, but again plenty fast enough to win tonight. \u00a0Maaike de Waard (26.47) and Elinore de Jong (26.75) placed second and third.<\/p>\n<p>Timon Evenhuis moved up to 12th in the world rankings in the men&#8217;s 50-meter breast with a time of 26.76. \u00a0That swim moved just ahead of Martin Schweizer&#8217;s 26.80 from the Doha stop of the FINA World Cup. \u00a0Bram Dekker (27.83) took second, while Kasper Leeuw and Bastiaan Lijesen tied for third with 28.00s.<\/p>\n<p>Maarten Brzoskowski won the men&#8217;s 1500-meter free in 14:47.03 for the meet record, while Ferry Weertman also cleared 15:00 with a second-place 14:49.03. \u00a0Andrew Meegan snared third in 15:22.87.<\/p>\n<p>Rieneke Terink topped the women&#8217;s 400-meter free with a meet-record 4:04.07. \u00a0Esmee Vermeulen snared second in 4:11.50 with Leonie van Noort taking third in 4:12.53.<\/p>\n<p>Sebastiaan Verschuren pocketed the men&#8217;s 100-meter free crown in 48.22 with Tom Lommers snaring second in 48.73. \u00a0Kyle Stolk took third in 49.08.<\/p>\n<p>Jesse Puts topped the men&#8217;s 50-meter back in 24.26 with Bastiaan Lijesen earning second in 24.99. \u00a0Jurjen Willemsen snared third in 25.40.<\/p>\n<p>Esmee Bos set a Netherlands junior record for 18 year olds with a 1:01.86 to win the women&#8217;s 100-meter IM. \u00a0Lona Kroese (1:02.35) and Marjolein Delno (1:02.70) rounded out the top three.<\/p>\n<p>Kyle Stolk followed with another Netherlands junior record as he clocked a 55.18 for the 18 year olds record. \u00a0Mike Marissen (55.34) and Lucas Greven (55.49) placed second and third. \u00a0Frank Roovers took fifth in 56.83 to break the Netherlands junior record for 16 year olds.<\/p>\n<p>Brendan Hyland captured the men&#8217;s 200-meter fly title in 1:58.36 with Fabian Beimin earning second in 1:59.24.
