﻿{"id":113974,"date":"2014-11-09T08:46:44","date_gmt":"2014-11-09T15:46:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=113974"},"modified":"2014-11-09T08:46:44","modified_gmt":"2014-11-09T15:46:44","slug":"arkansas-womens-swimming-leaves-nebraska-win","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/arkansas-womens-swimming-leaves-nebraska-win\/","title":{"rendered":"Arkansas Women&#8217;s Swimming Leaves Nebraska With Win"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LINCOLN &#8211; Arkansas women&#8217;s swimming downed Nebraska in Lincoln on Saturday, 190-106.<\/p>\n<h2>Arkansas Press Release<\/h2>\n<p>Fourteen event wins and a downed pool record propelled the Arkansas women\u2019s swimming and diving team past the Nebraska Huskers, 190-106, Saturday afternoon in the Devaney Natatorium.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve built off what we&#8217;ve been doing in the last three meets,&#8221; said head coach Sean Schimmel. &#8220;They did a good job and came together as a team. We had to overcome some adversity today and they adapted well to that.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Arkansas\u2019 (1-3, 0-3 SEC) 200 medley relay of Anna Mayfield, Nikki Daniels, Susanna White and Nina Drolc touched the wall first in the 200 medley relay to open meet competition. The team\u2019s time of 1:42.90 topped the Devaney Natatorium\u2019s previous pool record of 1:43.03 that was set in 1983 by Stanford.<\/p>\n<p>Junior Rachel Stoehr captured two event wins on the day in the 1000 freestyle (10:18.65) and 500 freestyle (5:02.28). Daniels also tacked on two individual wins in the 100 and 200 breaststroke with times of 1:02.53 and 2:17.96, respectively. Chloe Hannam rounded out the competition with two event wins in the 200 freestyle (1:52.89) and 200 backstroke (2:00.77). Swimming the rest of the first-place finishes was Mayfield (55.50, 100 backstroke), Caitlin Sheridan (2:03.86, 200 butterfly), Maddie Monroe (51.87, 100 freestyle), White (56.68, 100 butterfly) and Chelsea Tatlow (4:24.95, 400 IM).<\/p>\n<p>The Razorbacks 200 freestyle relay team of White, Drolc, Mayfield and Monroe registered a first-place finish with a time of 1:34.94.<\/p>\n<p>Sophomore Aiden Lister clocked two second-place finishes in the 1000 freestyle (10:24.35) and 500 freestyle (5:04.02) while Chelsea Tatlow snagged second place in the 200 backstroke (2:01.84) and 200 freestyle (1:54.27). Swimming the remaining second-place finishes was Julia Banach (1:05.85, 100 breaststroke), Jessie Garrison (2:04.64, 200 butterfly), Drolc (24.17, 50 freestyle), Mayfield (52.24, 100 freestyle) and Mary Margaret Soderberg (4:31.39, 400 IM).<\/p>\n<p>On the springboards, freshman diver Nicole Gillis took first in the 3-meter boards with a score of 319.20 while senior Meghan Clark took fourth (291.75). On the one-meter boards, Gillis took third with a score of 253.35.<\/p>\n<h2>Nebraska Press Release<\/h2>\n<p>Despite victories from Alex Bilunas and Anna Filipcic, the Nebraska swimming and diving team dropped its non-conference battle with Arkansas on Saturday 190-106.<\/p>\n<p>Bilunas earned Nebraska&#8217;s first victory of the day, finishing the 50-yard freestyle in 23.91. Saturday&#8217;s victory for Bilunas in the 50-yard freestyle was her second victory of the season in the event.<\/p>\n<p>Filipcic captured Nebraska&#8217;s second victory of the day in the one-meter dive. Filipcic posted a first-place score of 283.65. Nebraska swept the top two spots in the one-meter event with Nicole Schwery earning second with a score of 267.98. Filipcic placed second in the three-meter dive posting a score of 316.05, while Schwery finished third with a score of 309.00.<\/p>\n<p>Freshman Jordan Ehly earned two second-place finishes. Ehly swam to a second place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:20.43) and the 400-yard individual medley (4:37.99). Ehly also earned a third-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.10).<\/p>\n<p>Rebekah Land, Katt Sickle and Bria Deveaux all captured second-place finishes on Saturday. Land earned her runner up finish in the 100-yard backstroke swimming to a time of 57.62. Sickle finished second in the 500-yard freestyle racing to a time of 5:05.48. Deveaux swam to a time of 57.13 to claim her second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly.<\/p>\n<p>Jacqueline Juffer (100-yard backstroke), Sickle (1,000-yard freestyle), Aimee Fischer (500-yard freestyle), Erin Oeltjen (100-yard butterfly) and Julia Roller (400-yard individual medley) all captured third-place finishes against Arkansas.<\/p>\n<p>In the relays, the Huskers took second in both events.
