BRYN MAWR – Franklin & Marshall swimming rolled through Bryn Mawr tonight, 127-64, in a Centennial Conference matchup.<\/p>\n
Franklin & Marshall easily defeated Bryn Mawr 127-64 on Friday night in Centennial Conference (CC) women’s swimming action. The Diplomats improved their record to 2-0, 2-0 CC, while the Owls slipped to 0-2, 0-2 CC.<\/p>\n
F&M began the evening in winning fashion, as Taylor Mateja, Melissa Mullin, Courtney Collins, and Katherine Grant earned first-place points in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:56.98.<\/p>\n
Mary Ann Robison continued the first-place finishes for the Diplomats, touching the wall first in the 1,000-yard freestyle at 11:25.43. Collins then placed first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:01.75.<\/p>\n
F&M dominated the 50-yard freestyle, with Bridget Dromerick (26.56) finishing first, followed by Leeza Rojas (27.59) in second and Cassidy Neuman (28.17) in third, respectively. In the following race, the 200-yard individual medley, Rebecca McCain touched the wall first at 2:24.13.<\/p>\n
The Diplomats took the top three spots in the 100-yard butterfly, as Mullin placed first at 1:02.02, while Kellen McDonald (1:05.01) and Breann Cavanagh (1:06.06) placed second and third respectively.<\/p>\n
Ipeknaz Erel earned the victory in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 57.56, followed by Mateja in second at 57.74 and Alyson Campbell in third at 1:00.44.<\/p>\n
The 100-yard backstroke was a favorable race for F&M, as Grant placed first with a time of 1:08.27, while Sydney Brannick finished second at 1:11.38 and Neuman touched third at 1:12.68.<\/p>\n
Jillian Albus capped off an impressive night for the Diplomats with a first-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:41.88. Mia Konstantakos earned second-place points at 5:49.89.<\/p>\n
The Owls swim team continued their early-season homestand earlier Friday evening with another conference tilt, this time against Franklin & Marshall. Bryn Mawr put together a solid meet, taking home several podium finishes en route to a 64-127 loss to the Diplomats.<\/p>\n
The Bryn Mawr 200-yard medley relay team kicked things off in strong fashion, finishing in 2:05.89 to take three seconds off their time from last week’s meet. Then, Katrina Obieta built off of that with a very solid 1000-yard freestyle. The senior finished the distance race in a time of 12:44.57, knocking over 16 seconds off of last week’s time in the event.<\/p>\n
Angela Mastrianni picked up a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle, outracing a Diplomat to the wall to wrap up the runner-up spot with a time of 2:15.46. Kristina Xiang also took home a second-place finish in the meet, coming up just over a second shy of the win in the 200-yard individual medley with a solid 2:25.93 time. Xiang also picked up a third-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle, with her time of 5:50.16 being just tenths of a second shy of the runner-up spot.<\/p>\n
Ariane Marchis-Mouren and Ami Okazaki led the way for Bryn Mawr in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing almost simultaneously in times of 1:10.51 and 1:10.68. Phoebe Jordan finished just seconds outside of a third-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle. Jordan posted a 1:03.31 finish in the event, with Obieta close behind at 1:04.57.<\/p>\n
